Hi

I have a terrible cough and cold and
Feel under the weather and no energy! Would it do me any harm not to train for maybe 4 days while I get over this? I never miss 2 days in a row!!

IMO your body has its way of telling you when it needs rest... if your drained, rest up and make sure to keep consuming lots of fluids; you dont want to risk prolonging your sickness just because you went in and tried to workout. Since your having no energy, your workouts are going to be sloppy anyway. I'd say rest up, missing 4 days isn't going to do much harm, make up for it by hitting a couple of ur offdays.

Thanks. I've added more cardio into my training now and finding this impossible as my chest is bad. Usually I can't wait to get lifting at 6am but its the last thing on my mind at the min!
If I miss the gym it's psychological and I think I have gained loads of weight.. But I'm pretty muscular so that should keep the fat away :)
Also when not well my diet goes to pot :( I don't eat much and if it do it's just crap...

It's never a good idea to workout while ill Frenchy, listen to your body & rest..
your body looses water while u excercise, your feeling sick & not eating enough & probably not drinking enough, the last thing u need is to force your body & feel even worse.

Relax, take a few days off, get stronger & feel better, and then hit the gym when you feel better.. You won't loose anything in 4 days, it's really phsycological.

Drink plenty of fluids & try to eat healthy.

Hope u feel better :)

Thanks good advice as always! Not had a cold in years :( prob have this week off training - then it Xmas and don't know about the USA, but the gyms here are not open much through which is a pain in the bum

Here, they are open pretty much all the time, I think even on x-mas day, not sure...
I train at home now, got tired of the gym I was going to.

Having 3 school age kids colds are very comon in my home, what helps them when they get really congested is putting eucalyptus oil in 2 cups of boiling water and having them breath in the steam, it really helps with congestion.

And drinking lemon with honey (warm) helps with the sore throat.

but u really have to let the cold run it's course, chicken broth is always good too.

take care~

My suggestion (which is passed on from what a sports science doc advised me) is to give it a shot. Train for 15 minutes, and if you feel like your condition is getting worse, stop. Otherwise, keep on going.

Yeah I did try training twice- cardio I was going to do a 45 min spin session and gave up under 2 mins.. There was my answer lol
