TRT help starting injections for 1st time

I started my jouney over a year ago. I found out I had low T when I was trying to get my wife pregnant. After 5 months of trying I saw a urologist and he ran numerous tests. My total testosterone was low, as well as my LH and FSH. He started me on Clomid to help with testosterone and sperm. After 4 months my total T was at 900 and we conceived. I then stopped the Clomid and my T dropped to 200. He then put me on the patches since I have young kids. After one month on patches my total testosterone was 150. I got my first shot of testosterone today and they taught me how to self inject.

My dosage is .4ML of 200mg 1ml. I'm in the military so they gave me 12 1ml individual vials. When the nurse showed me how to self inject, she said I would draw .4 ml and then discard he rest of the medication. She made it seem that once I open up the vial, it can't be used again. Is this true? Once I got the hang of it, I wanted to inject 2x weekly .2ml each time, but didn't know if the medication went bad in the individual vials.

I know the military won't give any AI inhibitors so I was thinking 2x a week would make that a non issue.

Anyone think my estradiol will be high at .4ml 1x per week?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

80mg per week is a very low dose. A typical TRT dose is between 100-200mg per week. It is likely that your TT will not be very high -- but it will be higher that 125ng/dl as you experienced with patches.

Instead of 1ml vials, ask your doctor to prescribe a 10ml vial. That will last you a while and it is a multi-use vial. So you will not have to discard the unused contents. You simply draw the amount you wish to inject and what remains in the vial remains in a sterile environment.

You probably will not need an AI on 80mg per week, but you never know. Make sure your doctor checks your estradiol when blood work is ordered.

Back to your vial question. If they gave you 1ml ampules where you break the glass top, you cannot store the test in there once they have been opened. If it is a 1ml multi-use vial then you could store the unused test in there without issue.

I hate those little ampules. One thought: You can't store test in those things, but you can keep preloaded syringes around for quite a while. My old TRT doc wouldn't send the vial home with me for some reason so he would give me 10 preloaded syringes (10 wks worth) at a time when I came to his office.

Be careful as the stoppers in the syringe can dissolve if the test is stored in the syringe for too long. You would not want to inject that onto you.

Yuck. Did not know that. It wouldn't keep from pulling next weeks and pocketing the extra amp though.

Pull back on the plunger so you get about a cc of air in it, then store your pre-loaded syringes upside down. That way none of the oil will be able to touch or deteriorate your plunger. :)

I'm in the military so that's why I think they give me the 1ml single use vials. I'll probably stick with the single 80mg dose per week until my first round of blood tests in 5 weeks. From all my reading, I way to see my total test vs estradiol levels. If they are still normal I can ask the Dr to ratchet it up a little. From the last few posts it seems like one I get my dosage to the correct levels, I'll be able to draw two syringes of test from one single use vial, inject one and store the other one to start dosing every 3.5 days. Sound correct? Any other advice would help

That's a damn good idea. I don't have to worry about it anymore but if i do hopefully I'll remember that. I'm pretty sure mine were fine after 10 weeks...er well it doesn't matter at this point so I'm not gonna think about it...

How do I tell? The prescription and bottle says 200mg 1ml. They have a red top that you pop off with your fingers, and then you stick the needle in the top like I've seen in videos. This is the first time I've ever taken a shot of something, so I don't know the difference. He nurse that told me to self inject said to only use .4 ml from each bottle. Also they gave me 12 for the next 3 months.

Thanks

Use the internet to compare to pictures of ampules. Or call and ask your pharmacy.

But basically ampules are 100% glass and you physically break the top off to open it. A multi-use vial has a rubber stopper at the top that you stick the needle through to draw the test out of. You can stick the needle through there more than once.

If you have any doubts post pics here or call your pharmacy.

There is the picture above. It is glass, but it has the stopper on top that you stick the needle through. I wonder why they would tell me to only use it one time. Should I start injecting every 3.5 days or wait until after my first round of blood tests

Looks like a multi-use vial to me. You might want to ask for 10ml vials in the future as they are much more convenient and cheaper.

But draw the amount you want to inject and safely leave the remainder in the vial until your next injection is due.

Injection frequency is up you. Try different ways to see what works best. Just don't go longer than once a week.

If that's a multi-use vial (rubber stopper in the top) it would be a huge waste to draw .4mg and throw the rest out. Wonder WTF the nurse was thinking? Sounds like your going to have quite a bit leftover and that might be a good thing if you need to experiment with different protocols in the future.

Where can you get needles and equipment for injections. My Dr only gave me enough for 1x per week injections with a few spares. I don't think he will be ok with trying every 3.5 days, so I have the vials, but will run out of everything else. Any cheap suggestions?

What do you guys suggest to use. They gave me 18 for drawing and 22ga 1 1/2inch for the injection? I was told to inject in thigh. Any difference depending if I go buttox or shoulder (where on shoulder do you inject?)

Any info would help, since I see different things in the readings.
