TRT, Switching from topics to injections.

Hi everybody, first post here, im 24, 6'2 inches tall, and 180 lb, i was diagnosed with hypogonadism three months ago, and was firstly prescribed testogel and now as it states on the title my urologist has decided to swap to injections, he's prescribed Testex prolongatum 250.

These are the results of the bloodwork after 3 months on testogel:

FSH: 2.71 mUI/ml 1.7-12.4
LH: 5.95 mUI/ml 1.0-8.6
Prolactin: 18.89 ng/ml <22
Estradiol 17-BETA: 43.62 pg/ml <42.6
Total Testosterone: 11.84 ng/ml 2.50-8.36
Free testosterone: 20 pg/ml 8.9-42.5

After watching these results, my urologist has decided to swap from testogel to Testex prolongatum injections monthly for the next three months. After lurking around a bit, i've red quite some times that the best formula for this form of testosterone is to inject it weekly or twice a week to keep the levels as balanced as possible.

What is your thought on this matter, should i try the monthly injection or should i talk to the urologist so we can rearrange the injection frecuency to once a week or twice a week.
Also, should i wait some time before starting with the injections or should i start when the next dose of testogel was supposed to be applied?

if thats the case.. the ideal way to inject test cyp on hrt is twice a week.. 3.5 days apart from each other..


how much does he want to inject?? just 250mg once a month??

in 10 days that will be 125mg.. you'll feel good for about two weeks and feel like shit the rest of the month lol

Monthly injections would REALLY suck - you will be on a hormonal roller coaster. Testex is testosterone cypionate, which is what they usually prescribe in the US. At a minimum, do a weekly injection. See if he will teach you how to inject yourself and then prescribe you a 10ml bottle so you can do your own injections at home. When I was on bi-weekly injections even my wife noticed the hormonal changes in me and disliked them. I cannot fathom how bad a monthly injection would be!

Everything I have found shows it to be one of those 2ml ampules - where you break the glass at the thin neck area. And you are right, he will feel amazing for a week, good for a week, and like crap for second half the month.

Im thinking on trying the monthly injections for this first month and depending on how im feeling during this four weeks, meet him again and negotiate the protocol change.
I think that what concerned him when looking at the results after 3 months of testogel was the estradiol levels. Wouldn't the monthly injection frecuency cause the estradiol lvls to turn off high?

yup.... with the 250mg peaking about 3-4 days after injection and no ai you'll likely experience high sides from it

I can understand not wanting to alienate your doctor by being overly demanding. Monthly injections may be convenient for him but they are absolutely a recipe for failure if we're talking about test cyp. You should not have to "prove" this to him by enduring 3 months of substandard care.

Well, thanks for the help guys.
It isn't the doctor who is injecting it but a healthcare assistant. I won't be able to meet the doctor again until a month has passed, it's the closest day i could pick the appointment with him.

Should i follow the doctors instructions and inject the 250mg or divide it in 4 smaller doses and inject once weekly?

I was thinking on trying the month long dose and then report the doc with my feelings, but as you guys said and what i keep reading in the forum things might get pretty rough from the second week to the end of the month with such injection frecuency.

How can you split up the dose if you have to go to the office to get the shot?

Tough call, because 250mg per four weeks is too little in any case. Might have to let him see your trough T 4 weeks after the shot. The problem is it may not tell the whole story because you may still have some endogenous production at that point.

It's really too bad the doc won't start with something reasonable, like 100mg per week.

She is a lot happier. I will be starting hCG soon to plump up the boys and she will be even more happier after that!

Hey, im back to the thread with the purpose of keeping a journal about the upcoming month with the 250mg dose.

I decided to test the monthly 250mg injection for a month and then report the doc with the results, it's been 3 days since i injected the test cyp, at the moment im feeling really nice, haven't felt this good for long, i feel like im full of energy and in a better mood.

Placebo effect at its finest, i actually feel like shit right know, im thinking that my estradiol is sky high, i feel like doing nothing, i just feel plain sad and have pretty much lost appetite. I've come to think that high estradiol is the cause because i feel a little pain on my right nipple sometimes, i also felt this nipple pain while on testogel.
