Hi !

I have this problem with a strong urge to sugar right before bedtime.
Even though I have had a good evening meal I still get this urge to eat candy/sweets.

I would like some advice on supplements or foods that can wipe out the urge to sugar so

that I can go to sleep.

Sincerely

Sir.

When I'm dieting and feel a sugar craving (usually for chocolate), I go brush my teeth. If you still want to try and eat ANYTHING right after you brush your teeth, go ahead and try, it'll taste like ass.

Haha, I like that way of thinking.

Personally, I keep NONE of the shit around the house. This removes all temptation.

I take a quick spoonful of peanut butter, wash it down with water, brush my teeth and hit the sack. I don't know what it is but those carbs make me sleep like a baby.

Try to eat only complex carbs and veggies, also try to eat some protein and good fats before bed like whole eggs and cheese or lean hamburger.

Thanks for the answers!

Thanks to everyone for taking time to answer!

But I would have thought that there would be some products out there that would decrease the appetite or urge for sweets, forexample have I read that smelling to vanilla can kill the urge to chocolate!

Anyway thanks to everyone for taking time and giving consideration to this thread!

Try some Natty Peanut Butter with Splenda mixed in.. Or some Chocoloate bunnies made with splenda.. Tastes great.. ;)

I just drink choc protein shake b4 bed if i get the craving...actually my craves come in the afternoon...

It's funny I hear that a lot. Usually thats a sign of diabetees but so many people complain about that and they dont have it. I used to have a little problem and the only thing that combated it was to eat a lot of carbs early in the day. I think the craving for sugar is your body saying it needs carbs.

Some really good tips. Also, I would add put your short-term goals on a piece of paper and require yourself to check them out whenever you get urges like that. Whether you're trying to get to a certain BF% in a particular time frame or just trying to minimize fat gain on a bulk cycle. Actually stopping to conciously weigh the rewards of temporary sweet tooth gratification versus your body alteration goals that you've been working hard at can really put things in perspective, especially when there's the possibility of destroying days of dieting effort with a short binge that will probably make you feel like shit afterwards.

Are you bulking or cutting?

IMHO, the best way to aleviate cravings for sugar is to not be hungry. Eat lean meat before bed. Artificial sweetners are also a blessing. Sucralose is the best tasting, but Splenda unfortunately contains maltodextrin (a sugar) as a "filler."
