The recommended method varies from state to state, or as in the case of Florida, County by County. Look it up online, try searching under "sharps disposal". If you can't find it there, call the local health department and ask them the proper method of disposing of sharps in your area. If you still can't find the recommended method, then use the bleach bottle or protein container method, seal it and dispose of in trash as a last resort. Medical supply places sell specific red "sharps containers" for this purpose. Some even come ready to mail off for disposal.
