Ventro. The mystery glute?

Looked at difference pics trying to pinpoint this perfectly, but seems that each pic is different. Most seem more to the high front hip? Would love for someone to post a pic showing that really knows where this mystery meat is:)

Here's a picture:

It's the triangular portion at the top labeled "gluteus medius".

If you're pretty lean, you can easily see this standing sideways to a mirror once you know what you're looking for.
If you're not, you have to rely on the "fingers in a V" technique, orienting yourself on bony protrusions of the great trochanter and iliac crest.

I honestly used youtube to get the best ideas on how to pin it. If you want to see where it's located (while standing), just get in front of a mirror and put all your weight on that leg. It'll stand out assuming you have a leg day in your repertoire. :)

The one piece of advice that I have for the VG is that you want to feel for your illiotibial band by feeling the area between your quad and hamstring. It'll feel like a thick tendon going from your knee to your hip. It does cross into ventroglute territory, and you really want to avoid putting a needle through it. Ideally, you won't have any problems with this, but I was distracted talking to the wife one day and was limping for a good few days after.

My .02c :)

Yes the wife has wormed me about the IT band. Most of the pics seem a little questionable and I just wanted to make sure I was in proper spot. Need those injection spots:) I'm using 8 in rotation now and it really helps!!

1. Put the heel of your hand on your trochanter (ball joint in your hip).

2. Spread your pointer and middle finger.

3. Pin in between your fingers.
