Very Newbie Question RE:Dosages

I'm kinda embarrased to ask this question but I am confused and don't want to fuck-up in a conversion.
There are 4 main measurements used on here all the time. I just can't seem to work out how they relate.
mgs, ml, cc, iu

I got the 1ml=1cc thing but are mgs milligrams? Cause wouldn't that then mean that 1 milligram equals 1 milliliter, something I picked up in Yr 10 maths at school (but if you look at suggested dossages and it doesn't make sense)?

I told you it was a newbie question, sorry

1ml is the volume it could be 1ml of oil with 100mg,200mg,300mg it doesn't metter about the milgrams. That does not change the volume of 1ml do you get it?
Like a oxycontin pill some are 10mg some are 20mg and some are 40mg but they are all the same size.

The iu is like the metric system 1cc or 1ml=100iu but
1/2 a cc or .5 ml =50 iu
iu is mostly used for insulin and growth.

No need to apologize, but 1mg does not equal 1ml. That would be the equivalent of saying 1lb equals a gallon. It varies depending on what you are talking about. That's why you can have eq at 50mg per ml as well as eq at 200mg per ml.

buzzz......wrong answer......LOL !!

iu = international unit, and the volume (ml or cc) varies per the drug being measured.

Drug "A" could have a volume of 1 ml/25 iu.....while drug "B" could have a voloume of 1 ml/200 iu.

As you can see........iu's are not a standard measure of volume.

Not wrong answer, maybe not a full answer What I am talking about is 100units per ml and a 100ui syringe.Just trying to keep it simple if you go and buy 100 iu insulin don't buy 500 iu needle.
