Want to cycle but not peak condition

I'm 28 years old and did my first cycle 4 years ago, right before age 25. It was a cut cycle which I began while I was at peak physical condition. I was ripped, strong, etc, all before I started the cycle, and was using it to bust through some long term plateaus and gain strength on a cut.

Fast forward to today. I'm 28, and although certain lifts of mine are the strongest they've been, others are WAY down. Squat is 70 lbs off its natty peak (peak was 495, current is 425), and body fat is a little higher than it should be. Life has been brutal on me recently, so I haven't been able achieve peak condition.

The basic question - should i try to recover those 70 pounds on squat before cycling? Do I need to maximize my lifts and hit peak condition before beginning the cycle? Or is it ok to just begin from where I am now

Uh, unless your body fat is really high there's no reason to wait. I just came off cycle and I'm not sure I could hit 425:-)

You say life's been brutal lately. Do you have time to put into the gym and into cycling now or are things still hectic?

so ur a power lifter eh ?

stat s please ?

Life can and will kik ur ass at time s but the gym is to me what church is to other s or N/A to others too. If the gym s cranking along good life s manageable at it s worst . 25-28 were my peak yr s pwrlifting..enjoy not limping or sounding like chi uah uah sitting on Thomas Crapper s invention--the modern day s terlet which used a u shaped pipe to keep water in the bowl to keep the staink oughtta the house.

(On my 25 th b day I benched
225x 25
DL 455x12
sq 500 x 5. )

Things are still hectic but more manageable in some respects. Time wont be an issue - I think if anything forcing myself to get to the gym, train hard, and maximize my cycle could go a long way in helping to keep my life in balance :)

I havent considered myself a powerlifter in many years. Stats now? 5'11 194 maybe, 375ish bench, 430sq. I dont DL. And a strict 225 OHP. Inc BP 325

Stats back during 24 y/o cycle included a 585 sq lmao I cant even believe I ever had the nerve to try that

Teutonic I recognize your name from back in the day, good to see some familiar faces :) and thanks for the kind words, I agree that gym is like Church, just a positive way for me to help manage the harder parts of life

Good to have you around here hope the advice given works out.

Have a plan. Food budget. Gym time. Bloodwork pre, mid and post.

And have ALL of your gear, plus some extra, in hand before you start.

Go git ya sum!!!!
