Weird thing happened

I gave myself my normal Inj.. 2CC today.. I aspirated before just to make sure as the insertion felt more painful than usual.. after I injected and pulled out.. blood literally squirted out.. like a solid stream for a good 2 seconds.. I put pressure and stopped it.

I assume I went through an artery and didnt realize is.. Is this normal? I know I injected into my quad with no issue.. Am I just over worrying?

Right int he side of my quad where I always do.

I alternate legs every week. It's been about 10 min I dont feel anything.. I think I am okay.. I used to do the middle of my quad but this happened so I switched to the side.

Nicked a vein. Ive done it a few times. Not a big deal but if you notice it happening often you need to re think your inj locations obviously!

Just add pressure I suppose?

First Aid 101....

You'll experience things like this from time to time. It's all part of the process of learning what injection sites work best for you. As your muscle heads get bigger and body fat goes down you'll actually be able to find the different locations in each group.

The worst is a muscle twitch when that happens... I've twitched and the needle came back out

Sounds like you hit a nerve. I did that back when I still did quad injections and my entire leg started spasming. Scared the shit out of me.

lol oddly enough Ive noticed some times you can almost tell where is a bad place to inject just by the way it feels when your about to push the needle in. I don't know if its all in my head but usually before I even get it in a half a centimeter I can feel its harder to push in and it hurts in a different way.

If a vein caused a squirt (not likely), you better get a CBC panel. Veins don't squirt blood. Arteries do. Either way you'll be fine but you need to check your HCT levels.

Yeah, same here. I've learned that if an area is sensitive when you're pushing in to just move it over a few cm and try again, cuz it's gonna hurt a lot more when it goes in.

ino what u mean i get different pains on bad sites its like my bodys tellin me to change spot its allways in my quads aswell

Yup, I feel ya. I only pin glutes now but I can tell you those spots are everywhere. Just gotta pin elsewhere when ya see the warning signs.

You might want to google a diagram for self injections sites. Just flexing a muscle and aiming for the thick part is not good enough. There are some areas that have a lot more nerves/veins/obstacles than others. I assume "int he side" means inside, there's more 'good spots' on the outside of quads.

yes. injecting into a flexed muscle is a terrible idea altogether.

Oh, I meant flex to find the thick part, then relax before pinning. But still, not enough by itself.
