just wondering what goes through your head. do you try to psyc yourself up or what. if u choose "other" explain.

"This is my last set until next week, better make it count"
Exactly what goes through my mind...I always put my all into the last set, and never slack off during it either.

I hate thinking when I lift. I try to get real excited and pissed before the set starts, and then just ride that aggression out during the set.

That's a good way to think about it.

Yep. That's exactly what I do; I....

... think of all the relationships that ever pissed me off

and everthing that's ever gone bad in my life. I think about anything possible to piss me off. I call myself a pussy and insult myself, cuss myself, hell, I've even gone so far as to punch myself in the mouth cuz I got so pissed off (that only happened once, and it wasn't fun, believe me). I also like to think about how I CANNOT give the little faggot ass frat boys at the station next to me the satisfaction of seeing me pinned.

I get a kick out of that one. ;)

I focus on the weight and movement and nothing else.
That I HAVE TO take more weight, do 1 more rep or something every set or I´ll fail.. Usually gets me going.

Hell Yeah, thats always a good motivator

I think happy thoughts. Seriously, like how big my chest is gonna be.

I hate when I think of a joke or something stupid one of my buddies did though, then I might start laughing and that sucks.

yeah thats always a bitch...thats why i always get myself into a serious mode before

I'm thinking "oops, my package just fell out of my shorts again, but I'm going to finish this set before I cover it up."

ive always thought of the reps as a type of mantra for meditation. it is assumed that working out is therapy for your mind as well as your body, and as the set gets harder and harder, you have to focus that much stronger, building concentration, and hence strength. everypart of the rep is crucial, and focusing on each individual aspect brings true enlightenment; that and i always picture arnolds body.

me too , but i get a kick out of watching the newbies at a meet stomping around huffing and puffing for a half hour before their attempt , by the time their on deck their out of adrenalin and tired :D

what goes through my head? "EXPLODE! ONE MOTHER FUCKER, EXPLODE TWO MOTHERFUCKER EXPLODE......... SEVEN GET YOUR FUCKIN ASS UP THERE EXPLODE EIGHT GET THE FUCK UP YOU FUCKIN PIECE OF FUCKIN SHIT WOO HOO!

rest and repeat

generally the only thinking I get to do is during squatting, usually it is along the lines of "OMFG! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It depends on what kind of mood i'm in. If i'm pissed off, i just keep thinking about it, and getting really mad (i usually look really pissed off when i work out anyway, no point in joking around while your at the gym, makes you lose concentration, and if you look pissed, then you have less chances of being bothered by other people in the gym), and pushing myself to lift heavy. But most of the time i just pace around and think to myself "Fuck, i should add more weight, what the fuck is 5 or 10 more pounds anyway?"
