What is everyone's experience with Hair loss when on TRT?

I'm still thinking about possibly starting TRT but am concerned about hair loss. I've been blessed with a full head of thick hair. As long as I'm only taking therapeutic doses of T should I be concerned? BTW I'm almost 51 if that matters.

Feel like a man and ward of all the terrible health effects of hypogonadism or have hair. It is kind of like saying that you don't want to do chemotherapy for your cancer because you will lose some hair.

I agree with the previous post though that you won't lose your hair. Exogenous testosterone can just speed up the process if you are already prone to losing your hair. I just think your thought process is rather silky. It makes me think that your T is not really that low. If you really were hypogonadal this would not even be a concern. You would jump at the chance to not feel like a walking zombie.

Appreciate your Frank response. My T levels have been up and down Started testing in early 2012. So far the readings are 308, 400, 455, 445, 280, 290.

The last 2 are from this past April and May. Don't know if that would be considered low T or not. According to a bunch of docs I've seen they think I'm fine. I've been able to improve my energy levels some over the past few years through healthy habits but just seem to have too many bad days still.

Your post really raised my eyebrows because "walking zombie" really fits the description of me on many days. But I've seemingly always been like this. I'm not bad enough to not be able to function, but just feel like I never really wake up all day. Yesterday was one of those days. I took my 2 daughters to lunch and asked them if they think dad always seems tired. They both replied "Yes. and lately it has been worse."

The wife doesn't want me to do this but will support any decision I make.

I am 71 and have been on TRT for one year. I believe I see some hair thinning on the top of my head, but I can't be sure, and if it is thinning the cause might be just age rather than TRT. Male pattern baldness began before I was 40, and it was well established before I started TRT. But I have hair on top of my head so I cannot see the MPB when I look in a mirror.

For me, TRT has been wonderful. I love it. For you, it is hard for me to say. Once you start you really have to do it for life because it decreases your body's ability to make your own natural T. You are a lot younger and your T levels are not as low as mine were.

Read the Basic TRT Overview sticky thread. And please know that there are definite health risks thstbcome from having low T. Men with Low T often don't live very long.

I was too tired to even want to have sex with my wife before I started TRT. My Total Testosterone was around 190ng/dl. 290 puts you in what is called the borderline hypogonadal range. You should check your Fee T too. And keep monitoring your Total T to make sure it doesn't continue to get worse.

I'm just shy of 34 years old and have a thick head of hair if I don't shave it weekly.
I've been on test replacement therapy for about 2 years now and have had no head hair thinning whatsoever. Body hair has gone crazy though, I look like an ape now compared to a couple years ago.

I have been on TRT for over a year now, and have been off and on many compounds for 10 years, i havent lost any hair. If you have an issue with mpb it will speed up the process but it wont create something out of nothing.

My .02 anyways

Best of luck

Depends on how bad the balding is. I started losing some hair at the back-top of my head and Rogaine has replaced it. That is me in the pic. I am pretty blessed with still having most of my hair at 45 with just a bit of loss up top there.

But you know what they say - if you start balding in the front you are a thinker...if you start balding in the back you are a lover...and if you start balding in both locations you think you are a lover. ;)

But to answer the OP, I have not experienced any additional hair loss after starting TRT.

For normal, getting older balding it works for most people...I cannot say about it working on a cycle since I have not had hair loss from my TRT.

I guess it couldn't hurt adding it to a cycle. It seems really stupid that they don't entirely understand the mechanism yet, for how long it's been around and how widely used it is.

I have friends who would say otherwise. Is it Propecia that you guys recommended to mitigate shedding on cycle?

NEVER TAKE PROPECIA. That stuff is scary. You want messed up hormones for life, with the potential to never feel better... dabble in Propecia. There are a billion threads about guys who took Propecia and now suffer.

I've had three hormone crashes over my life. Last one was never able to resolve and now on TRT. The very first was the day after my one and only Propecia pill.

They do understand the mechanism. You just haven found the info yet.
I will not dispute that people will can have success with rogaine but it also may not be the rogaine that is doing it.

Lastly, it can hurt to use it so stop being so willy nilly with your education

Exactly, it is poison and there are so many ready to take it for there precious hair.

In my book you are feminine if you worry about your hair.
