What is the secret to lose BF while gaining LBM?

And don't say it cannot be done. The people from Body For Life (or whatever Bill Phillips' prgram was called) have proved that you can lose BF while gaiing LBM. Does anyone know what they did? Is it a diet of moderate carbs, high protein and low fat? Has anyone done this and if so, what did you do?

In a trained individual it is virtually impossible.

What you see in Body For Life is overweight untrained individuals, who start eating right and exercising. Seconldy most of them only lost bodyfat and gained maybe 5 lb LBM. Thats not much muscle, but the fat they lost made them look a lot more muscluar.

Just look back to when you started training the same thing happened.

Yes you can probably lean out and gain some lbm, but it wouldn't be significant and you'd be much better off dieting or bulking.

WHAT IS YOUR B/F %.....?

I would say 15%

Had surgery last year and stopped working out for several months and didn't notice how sloppy I let myself go till I saw a picture of myself. I started a diet five weeks ago and have lost a notch on my belt already. I'm leaning more towards what you said. I think I'm going to stick to the diet till I get at 10% BF and then start on an Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) cycle.

it is very doable as i have several trainees doing just this. i prefer to bulk then cut but some guys wanna add muscle and lose BF. you will not get as much muscle doing it this way but it is very doable.

Exactly. You can't optimally do both....each will be at the expense of the other to some degree, but it can surely be done.

This long thread gets into it pretty well without directly addressing the question:

Long thread...

I am a firm believer in this as well. I tried to cut and gain muscle on a cycle and I felt like I was spinning my tires and not going anywhere. Bulk and then Cut is definitely the way to go.

Dieting is not the same for everyone, and while you can do both, the human body is best at doing one or the other as already mentioned.

So, become a diet and training expert, and you will know how to do it best for your own body.

Most say diet, eat less than u burn and you'll lose fat, but if it were that simply everyone would be shredded, although u do needs the right nutrients to build muscle mass, and on a calorie deficit is all about the right amount of nutrients IMO..
Do u guys think both things can be done or do u have to concentrate on one ?

I would say a clean diet and steroids would do it honestly. It really depend on what point you are at with your physique. I mean 2rude has a point something like tren is known to help burn fat and it increases the amount of food your body can turn into muscle. But I would say realistically if diet and training have been on key for a few years and you have been taking cycles to. Than you are going to have to get creative and it is going to be more geared toward drug use than diet and training if you already have achieved what is possible for you with just diet and steroids. Something like Hgh than would be added or tren.
