What is your biggest clean?

Im 210lbs. What in your opinion would be a good clean for my weight?

Also, what is your weight and clean record if you dont mind?

300+ lbs would be a good clean at your weight.

I've only ever done 235, but that's with very little squatting down to catch the weight. If I could learn to squat down, I could probably manage 275.
 
225's the most ive ever done but then I do cleans to rack the bar after squats.

I dunno, 275 sounds reasonable to aim for. dont really see the point in the clean as a bodybuilding exercise tho?

Just kidding bro... :D

It's an extremely effective exercise for the posterior chain and the upper back. Cleans will build HUGE traps and a very nice posterior chain. Not to mention it's another good exercise for the forearms.
 
Oh, one more thing...it's a very demanding lift that burns a lot of calories...very good while trying to lose fat.
 
im 225 and recently cleaned and pressed 225. And you guys are mentioning just the clean right, no press? My problem is my form, I clean it up but barley squat down to catch it if at all. I think if I could learn to clean with proper form I would eventually do alot more wieght.
 
Cleans work the shoudlers excellently. I am thinking of adding them to my next workout routine, but the lack of negative has me leary.

i personally think that weight has nothing to do with this. its all explosiveness and form. i lift with a kid who weighs 168 and can do sets at 225. and i weigh 238 and i can only do sets at 215. but my max prob would be around 275-300. its all in getting ur legs under u and being very explosive. but i can do db snatches with 100 db for sets of 10. idk what it is my form for the hang cleans is ass.

A clean is not an upright row, though. When pulling, arms should be completely straight and the upward motion of the bar is accomplished through shrugging of the shoulders (upper traps) and the explosive extension of the postior chain (erector spinae, glutes, hamstrings). It shouldn't really hit the shoulders much at all.

how do you snatch dbs? you do a complete snatch? with 2 100lb dbs? one in each hand?

its basically like that just with a db. idk the kid i workout with called them snatches and some of the football routines also call them db snatches. u just bring a db in between ur legs and basically clean it with one arm and do a set and switch. idk could be db clean but i always refered to them as db snatches.hmmm
 
so is it a clean or a snatch? i am having trouble seeing this. post a clip adn then we''ll know. i am not doubting jes having trouble visulizing. i am not the brightest light in the hall you know?

i don't have access or actually know of a site that has a photo or demonstaration. i will try to explain as best i can. if would say its a clean but i have heard them called db snatches since i have played football so who knows.

all right u have a weight in ur hand. basically like a snatch or a clean. bring the weight down as u would on a clean or a snatch with good form. then u all in one motion thrust ur hips and lift the weight close to ur body. and once the weight is around ur chin u flip ur wrists and get under the weight. so it helps to thrust forward explosively all with good form and then u bring the weight down controlled. thats the best way to explain it. if u think about it, it seems more like a clean but as i said before i have called them snatches for sometime so i could be wrong. but i do know it helps explosiveness and sure as hell is one good workout esp when u get into heavier weights with high reps.

two of my best friends in highschool both weighed 210 and both could clean 325, now one of them plays college football hes 6'2 235lb he can clean 405 for three reps. Most iv ever seen done in person was a o line player for university of alabama he weighed 300+ pounds i assume because he was about 6'5 and somewhat fat but he did 540 lb at there night of the champions strength expo.

is this power clean or hang clean? either was it is very impressive
