what should someone 225 be PLing

too many variables to answer that question. some guys got a bigger squat, some a bigger dead, some a bigger bench.

where you at now?

No doubt. If you do a search for PL results for various meets you'll find that a lot fo times guys at 225 may bench and dead more than someone 240. Someone at 180 may bench and dead more than someone at 215.

The other thing is the word "should". It depends on your goals. I wouldn't say PL has a textbook chart that says at 225 you should bench this and dead this.

I'd set goals based on hwere your at and once you work hard to acheive those, re-evaluate those goals and find if that's where you want to be or not.

What are you at right now?

I've always found it easier to work with short term goals.

trying to work out what I should be aiming for in bench, squat and dead
i know it sounds lame but the fact is your total should be more than it was 6 months agoand 6 months from now it should be even more . you will get mad respect at a meet if you grind out a squat like your life depended on it even if its 400 pounds .

currently
bench 295
squat 325
dead 405

my goal for the end of the year is
bench 405
squat 495
dead 540

I am currently doing 5x5 3 to 4 times a week ( some weeks I do shoulders) and have been increasing the weight about 2.5 kg a week. I will keep doing 5 x5 for another 8 weeks and then look at changing to a more PL style of training

five months ago I was at 940 total, now at 1025

Thats probably fesable. Your #s are close to mine except the dead I gotta strong dead. It's weird I only max 295 on the bench but i max dead at 550. My goals are similar to yours and I think their real with pullinbigs routine. I just started it and gonna try it for 3 months. Then tweak it around with his help. He seems like a knowledgable dude.

big deadlift and weak bench is usually due to your body build . are you long armed and or short legged ?

I got a weird buld man. My upper body is pretty big I look a lot of stronger then I am. My arms are only 18 inches and their not really long. Actually my legs are long and skinny. Bottom line I got chicken legs it's bad compared to my upper body. Im only strong in back.

No I didn't mean the length, LOL. My bi's there actually creeping up on 19 inches. I gotta hard time with putin size on my arms. I wont be happy till I got 20's.

19 inchers and you have a hard time putting size on them? how many guys you see with 19" arms? not many.

:Pump:

I know man. I waana those guys that always expects the most but should just appreciate what's there in front of him. It also just seems so damn hard to put size on my arms.

Don't the majority of posters at 'ology have 19" arms, cold? :freak:

As im creeping back up to 225 myself I'd like to know what to aim for.. 405/585/675 raw seem a pretty good immediate target

you deadlift 675 but only squat 405 ?

lol no, that's bench/squat/dead. my best pull is 655, squat 545 (but with belt).. those are what I think I -should- be capable of doing when I hit 225.

yep just the way it is..

I aim for the sky..why be content with a number..i thought a 500 bench would just be awesome but when i hit i was like yeah ok i want 600..

the only thing you can do right now is to better your lifts period..doesnt matter if they stack up well against anyone else..PR's are PR's and if you arent making progress you need to change your routine
