hay bros, i am 34, 5-9, 195, approx. 15% body fat, decent diet, and have worked out on and off my whole life. however, last novmember i had knee surgery, so i layed off the cardio and have hit the weights hard for almost a straight year now and eating tons of protein and proetein shakes, but i've noticed i need to decrease my belly fat. so, i need help with how much cardio i should be doing to decrease belly fat without losing a lot of the muscle size i just put on. and , if shorter more intense is better or slow longer?any help would be great. also, any suggestions on a good fat burner to go along with the cardio?thanx.

I try to mix both in for variety. I'm probably about 10%, and I do about 5 cardio sessions per week of 30-60 minutes each.

There are some studies out there that found that High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) was from 3 to 9 times more effective at burning fat than regular, steady resistance cardio. The theory is that after you do high intensity cardio (hard enough that you can only keep it up for short intervals, with easier intervals in between) - your metabolism stays elevated for the rest of the day at least, thus resulting in more calories burned.

I do think it makes some sense to do cardio first thing in the morning after consuming only whey protein in water - that way your body is depleted of carbs/glycogen and will need to draw on bodyfat as a source of fuel pretty early in the workout.

Ephedrine and caffeine stacked together is an effective fat burner. There are herbal ephedra capsules out there, I think. Green tea extract is also very good.
