i started this thread in the convo lounge, but i know there are some lifting in this section that travel down to that area, kinda scary at times in there.lol so decided to share it here too..

what age did you 1st start lifting wt's???

i picked up my 1st weider bench set at age 12...

i'll also add here what i added in the convo area:

the point of this is to find out more so when people started to lift..not when they started dedicated lifting...i started at 12 and pretty much stayed constent till i snapped my left collar bone playing back yard FB at age 16..then i picked it back up about a yr later..at age 17..then had a huge wt lifting lay off from 19-22ish..(spardley lifted, nothing seriuse while i was in the Army)..at 22 (after i got of the Army) i went back to the gym and have lift regulary since...a few bumps here and there but still constant about it...

My first weights was a set of York vinyls lol. I think the whole set weighed 26kg. I was about 14 - 15.

..... i lifted when i was in junior high,,,,, then in high school ,,, but never knew what it REALLY meant to be serious about it till i was 25.... ! ..... but now ,, its a way of life for me. attempting my first body building show this october. . .

went to the gym one month a year or so since age 18. Started seriously at age 22.

14 y/o for me. I learned a TON over the first 2 years from reading on the internet including this website, magazines, and talking to guys at the gym + personal trainers at the gym. I probably learned the most useful stuff from Pullinbig about power lifting like how less can be more and that compound excersizes are better than isolation for strength+size gains. And Ill never froget what he said once...I lost the quote but it was something like "supps, sleeping, (insert couple others) are all easy, lifting is play time, eatings the hard part.."

I started at age 12. I taped a picture of my current GF to the bar and benched it while looking into her beautiful, brown eyes. It was quite the motivation:)

No doubt and eating correctly was the hardest part and the toughest part for me to get right. I used to work out for a couple hours and come home and eat a bowl of cheerios! Wish I could go back with what I know now

was doing DB curls everyday believing it will make my arms stronger..

Haha, similar beginning as well.

At first i only did seated calf raises after every basketball match to increase my vertical jump. Then one day this ripped/big black guy starts to play on a continuous basis, he had huge arms man! I started doing DB curls for 2 week's straight until who is now my buddy showed/explained me things..

142lbs in summer of 03 / now 185-87, and the hardest part is eating healthy.
