When I give injury advice....

...do as I say, not as I do.

I fucked up something in my knee, most likely a simple strain of the pes anserine in the lateral side of my knee, playing racquetball saturday afternoon. I immediately took 800mg ibuprofen to inhibit any kind of inflammatory response, which worked quite well, but yesterday I could barely walk. I couldn't actively get to full flexion OR extension, with the worst pain being when I accidentally locked the knee while trying to walk. Well, today it still hurts like a motherfucker to walk, but instead of rest like I know I should've done, I went to the gym and did legs (courtesy of another 800mg ibuprofen [I ain't feelin shit pain-wise right now] ---- can't screw up the split, lol).....took it light, only a 20 rep squat, leg curl/extension, and calves, but I have NEVER felt a pump like this in the vastus lateralis (which makes sense since it attaches to the pes anserine, lol).

I think that you are thinking of Gerdy's tubercle where the iliotibial tract inserts on the proximal anterolateral portion of the tibia. The pes anserine is on the proximal anteromedial portion of the tibia where sartorius, gracilis, and semitendinosis come togetether and attach.
