when to use over/under grip

the question is, what poundage do you start using over/udner grip?

mine would be 260

over/over grip is hardcore, no shit about it. it is the greatest grip strength training u can get, but not for everyone i suppose.

Is that with or without chalk?
With chalk it's around 350lbs... without it's around the 300 range.

damn, i was gonna post my over/over but pb makes me look like a pussy

i try work my double over hand on rack dead day. i have pulled 315 D/O hand for a few reps.
on dead day i typically stick to O/U grip.

I always use chalk, but never straps. I start to use the over/under grip at about 365 or so (reps). Anything too much above that feels like the weight is going to slip right out of my hands.

Unless you are training grip or doing a really light warmup, I always use it with deads/shrugs.

Usually, I try to go as heavy as I can with the double overhand grip in an attempt to increase grip strength. Obviously, if I were going for a PR, I would not do the same.

I only use a double overhand grip. Thats the only way I've ever done it so now I guess my grip is a strong point for me. My grip holds up great even up to 405 but after that it starts to slip some. All with no chalk.

question:

does doing over/under grip somehow disbalances ur lats? I noticed my left lat to be more developed than my right or it is just genetic?? discuss

straps have there place in training. to say never use them is limiting some things you can in the gym....
I realize that, however I just haven't felt like I have reached a point where they are necessary to supplement my training (my grip is not the limiting factor).

Switch up your grips IMO.

most plers who pull over/under dont switch grips. when you pull your shoulders should be relaxed so the weight is hanging as low as possible in front of you. this shortens the stroke by severlal inches. if your arms and shoulders are rolled forward and relaxed there sholdnt be any abnormal pressure on one lat or the other.

check out this clip from my last meet. notice how when im locked out at the op of the lift my arms and shoulders are relaxed and hanging down. im not shrugging the weight to finish the lift.
