I've been boxing since I was 16 on and off, just sparring and training. And have been training Muay Thai for close to a year and some JJ

i am about to get started asap... i just dont know what to get... i know a mouth piece and trunks and shin guards and head gear , but what size gloves? and what else do i need? i am currently 280lbs..id like to fight in the light heavyweights...at 205lbs... with all that cardio and diet i think i can get down to that weight...with a few supps.. i think i can maintain strength and get faster...

Training martial arts is not training MMA. While I've done TKD for 6 years and BJJ for over 4 years, a MMA fighter I am not. I've trained MMA with MMA guys who do fight and have taken classes along with my BJJ as they also train separately Muay Thai and MMA; however being as that is not my love, BJJ is what I stick with.

I like the aspects of training MMA, putting it all together however to compete is another thing. I don't have what it takes to do the training at that level nor do I have the thirst for the fight. So I would even go as far as saying training MMA and fighting MMA are two different things.

I train in BJJ (Gi). I have no interest in becoming a fighter - I have a good job, no money in MMA. BJJ is a hobby for me. I was getting bored with the weightroom and needed something else to do. Every since watching Royce Gracie in UFC 1 I always wanted to see what BJJ was all about. I ended up finding a good school and we are now affiliated with Gracie Barra. One of the best workouts I have ever done.

I'm just here for the bro's and lols ;)

I was a long time wrestler who just wanted to compete again.. naturally gravitated toward the BJJ.. eventually talked into training MMA and had an MMA coach (UFC vet) who was determined to make me a striker (complete fighter). Completely fell in love with the sport and was hooked from day 1.

I've trained Muay Thai for the past three years. spent november 08 in Thailand training.
BJJ is cool, but not my thing, i like the striking more than the grappling.

i was into boxing for about 2 years when I was in high school. was about average, but i am about 40lbs heavier now, and the skills I learned would be much more devastating when applied in a street fight against the average chump who cant throw or take a punch.

My brother, who lettered four years in high school in wrestling and trained at Gladiators Gym (MMA) in Baton Rouge, LA cannot defeat me. I was a two-sport athlete in high school and despite my size (I have about 50 lbs on him to be fair) I am just too quick

I am new to this forum. I am a fighter from Canada. Currently living and training in Portugal. Was out of the game due to an injury that kept me sidelined for a couple years. Plan on making a final attempt at a comeback this summer if all goes well with my training. Getting old so this is probably my last shot.

Decided to live and train in Portugal for a change in pace. Thought it would be a sweet place to start from scratch. No one knows me here so I have no distractions.

I only do it for entertainment. Make a good living day trading so I can afford 'silly hobbies' as my wife would say.

Look forward to meeting and learning a few things here because the days of doctor perscription gear is over for me. Was unaware there was such a huge UG market now. Hopefully I will meet the right people to take advantage of it.

Cheers!!!
