are all of you competitors club members? or do most of you train on your own for competitions? I would really like to get into this but there are no PL gyms in my area. so far ive been doing it for my own personal challenges and enjoyment, but i would love to go to the next level.

i train all on my own
i do thin its better to train with others who are experienced and can pick apart your form or just shout commands at you as youre lifting..

my gym is completely commercial there is not one useful piece of equipment that you could say "that must be for powerlifters" yet im making progress..

i do bring some of my own things in such as chains/bands/box/bench shirts/briefs/suits/chalk..you can look through my journal and everything i do is done at a commercial gym..

dont get me wrong it would be really nice to say gee my shoulders are hurting i think ill squat with a cambered bar instead this week but i dont have that luxury right now so you make do with what you have..it will get you very close but at some point youll need to seek out certain equipment such as a Monolift..im at that point now with my squat where it really is a bitch to walk out 650-700 and set my stance and then try bring my feet back together(against the groove of my briefs and/or suit) to try to rack the damn bar..other may find it easier

my squat workout will be from John Bernor who is a WPO competitor, and my bench workouts are from Joel Toranzo who was a WPO competitor, and soon will be again, hopefully. Not sure how i am going to go about the dead yet. If i had to plan this myself i would be lost. Although Blackbeard seemed to have set himself up a killer squat cycle.

i forgot to include although i train alone i read a ton of westisde stuff as well as opher lifters that i repsect that put up big weights..jcp mentioned Bernor/Taylor/joel

so while i train a lone i do follow what the big guys have done but since im only using food and not super supps i have to be careful not going overboard and doing "exactly" what they do

thats basically the boat im in. I workout at a commercial gym with no specialty equipment. i have made some good progress lately but i think i would do alot better with experienced partners. i get some strange looks from people when i use bands, or boards. someone even told me that i squat strangely (i was doing goodmornings).

bwahahahhaha
i love that one doing GM's and trainers tell you you shouldnt squat like that..

dont worry about the strange looks just do your thing..
i get people who ask why not use more weight instead of bands or chains-theyre just breaking chops they dont really want the answer i alwyas just say cause "it accelerates the eccentric and progressively loads the concentric" usdually they just walk way after that lol
