A dork at the gym told me he went to toronto for 2 weeks. He went to the gym, and said a guy did wide grip chin-ups for 10 minutes straight without stopping. He said he was doing them fast too.

He swears he was not lying, and he is a good guy, just dumb most of the time. I still cant believe him. What do you think? Is that possible for a human?

Fast would be 1 per second, which equals 600 wide-grip pullups...

No freaking way.

A decent pace would be 1 every 2 seconds, which equals 300 wide-grip pullups...

Very friggin doubtful.

I've heard of 370 CHINUPs, but you said wide-grip pullups, so I don't think he's correct.

Hahaha, just for shits and giggles, I entered the numbers into a 1RM calculator....

If he did 600 wide-grip pullups, even if he was a puny 130 lbs, his max would be his bodyweight plus 2,340 lbs lol.

Either that, or if he did 300 pullups, then his max would be about BWT plus 1270 lbs lol.

Absolutely I can not believe it -

The most i've heard of is 80 by a Navy SEAL @ the USNA.

More than 100 would be practically impossible IMO.

The world record I thought was something like 2500, but its been awhile since I've checked the book.

But what time period? I have an old Guiness Book (1998), and the most consecutive chinups was the aforementioned 370 chinups. But I don't know what time period, but that's consecutive chinups.

I'm thinking older than that, was it a skinny british guy? If its 370 then I'll take that quite readily, I just remember it was some hellacious number. He had the record for pushups 1 and 2 arm as well.

aka tying my VW Jetta to his feet and having do a wide grip pullup... :)

Pushups, LOL

I maxed out at 50 today.

I need to do some physical tests and pushups is part of it. How many can the rest of you do?

Are we talking Chinups or Pullups - Huge Difference

Are we talking Consecutive or Over a certain period of time

Lets get this cleared up before debating

I do a set of 100 consecutively when training during boxing season.

The guy coulda been exaggerating, you know how people are. He coulda been saying "HE DID WIDE GRIP PULLUPS FAST FOR LIKE 10 MINUTES DUDE, NO LIE". Probably was more like 2 or 3 minutes, for about 50 lol...and fast, could mean he started off repping fast and slowed down as he got up near 30.

I can't even do one right now lol.

I do sets of 40-45 sometimes to get a pump. Max is probably somewhere around 50 for me.

You know I probably couldn't flap my arms up and down for 10 straight minutes without hating myself and feeling some serious lactic acid buildup.

I asked the dink like 8 times, he swears the guy did not rest and was doing fast wide grip chinups for 10 minutes with no rest.

To me, that is not human, not even close, and im pretty good at chinups myself. He said the guy was ripped to shreads and looked perfect in every way. Maybe not huge, but he said he was a perfect build, whatever that is.............The guy who told me this looks like a joke. His joy in life is riding his bike, thats why he works out.... so he can be good at riding his bike, lol!

Well he is probably full of horse droppings then.

340 pounds and 4% bodyfat eh? :laugh4:

Perfect build = Brad Pitt?

So that proves that he was lying then right?
