$1000 Method for Cooking Eggs

Rheo Blair claimed that this was 1000 dollar secret method for cooking eggs. Bring water temp to 180-185 degress, simmer at this temp and cook eggs in the shell for 25 minutes. He said that all the nutritional value is preserved but all the bacteria is killed.

I think it's a little over the top but does anybody believe in this method?

Hmm, some nutrients are heat sensitive, and most nutrients are in the yolk. I like to make sunny side up and leave the yolk liquid. Some people just cook the whites and put the yolks over top of them when the whites are done cooking.

Now if you mean JUST for hardboiled eggs...I don't really know.

The source that I read it from only specified the hard boiled method.

I tried it a couple of time this week. I found that once the water temp hits 180, it's difficult to keep it at that low of a temp. You need to have the gas burner on the lowest possible setting.

Yeah, I would imagine that being difficult. But cooking it at the lowest temperature possible is definitely a good idea.

If your overall diet is so deficient in nutrients that you need to go into THAT much detail about boiling an egg I would think you have bigger problems on your hands.

It's an egg. For pity's sake the stuff some people come up with.
