27 YO about to start TRT!

Hey everyone. I've been looking at TRT for a few years now. I started having problems after taking finasteride/propecia for a couple years. Less morning wood, less interest in sex, slower recovery, mood swings, tired all day. I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a lot and am a firefighter. I feel like I do everything on will power and caffeine. I went to Low T Center today thinking they would run my blood test and it would come back fine. It ended up being 223g/dL Test and .37 Total PSA. Wow! So it's not all in my head.

I'm holding off on going through Low T Center in favor of working with IMT. I have blood work scheduled with Lab Corp for the male hormone panel from Private MD for monday morning.

My girlfriend is scared to death I'm going to start chasing every girl I see, but at the same time she knows something isn't quite right with our sex life and my desire. I'm very excited to get started. It's going to be a bummer to lose my hair(most likely) but that was going to happen eventually anyway.

Anyone have any advice on how to speed the process up? Or any advice in general? The lab test says it takes seven day. Is that typical or is it usually a shorter time period? Thanks to everyone who's advice I've read!!

Sorry to hear that you may need TRT. The good news is that it is a life saver if you do and it is very effective. There is a sticky thread here in the TRT forum called Basic TRT Overview. I recommend reading that. You need to gert more blood work and figure out if you are Primary or Secondary.

Posting up all your blood work results too will help us be able to give you personalized advice.

Not really, you just have to wait it out. My lab results are always ready in less than a week if that makes you feel any better. It usually takes 3-5 business days for me, and one time they even had my results within 24 hours...but that was definitely an anomaly.

Megatron already mentioned the sticky at the top of the forum. Definitely read it. It's an invaluable source of information and will likely answer most of your questions.

Also, glad to see a fellow fire service worker here! Welcome to the forum.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. I ended up making it into labcorp today instead of having to wait until monday. I have read the sticky, but will definitely review it some more today. Glad to see you on here as well.

A lot of it depends on where you are. Some locations ship the samples out to another to have them analyzed. The travel time adds another day. Some tests take longer, and some panels have a quick turn around. The hormone panel for males took about 3 days, the hormone panel for females took a day.

Added lab work. Please help a brother out understating this stuff! I'm also waiting on a full male hormone panel. Thanks!

Thanks. Yeah 223 sucks. I had my first shot at Low T Center Saturday and I already feel 10x better. Finalized things with IMT today and am just waiting to get everything. It's amazing, I didn't even realize how bad I was feeling until now.

I was thinking the same thing. Libido is still down, but morning wood is not a placebo affect. My girlfriend said I hadn't been that hard in years. I also am more energized waking up in the morning.

Looks similar to you previous results. I am assuming this is pre-TRT. Although your TT and Free T put you a little above the Hypogonadal level.

Your HDL looks fantastic!

Thanks. It's strange I went back to Low T Center right after this and my T level was 277. It was 233 the week before that. So I guess it just changes quite a bit from when I first wake up to an hour or two later.

One guy on a different forum says my cholesterol is too low, that its a "serious problem". Any thoughts on low normal cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a precursor to Testosterone. That is probably why he is suggesting that it could be higher.

Are you on any medication or supplements to lower your cholesterol? If so, you may want to consider stopping them.

Do you have any cardiovascular risks other than your Low T?
