AAS use for the older crowd

It is said that with age comes wisdom.

Based on veterans opinions here (let's say guys 50 and up), I would like to know if use of AAS should be modified in any way as you get older ?

Any impact on :

Doses ?
Pin frequency ?
AAS Selection ?
Cycle length ?
PCT ?

Regards

I'm in my mid-forties. I train 4-5 times a week and do 2-3 (8 week) cycles per year. I trained seriously and competed as an amateur until my 32. After that, there was less time for training and because of that there was no need for using AAS. Five years ago I returned to serious training with some modifications and then I started taking AAS again. I train just as intense as when I was 30, but some exercises with free weights I have replaced with machines. I eat much less then I ate 15 years ago but I still have approximately the same weight and quality of muscles. Last year I earned my master's degree and be re-qualified in the profession.
My favorite cycle is: deca (400mg per week), sustanon (250mg per week) and d-bol (30-50mg per day). With deca and Sustanon (sust) I do not change the dose during the cycle, but I pyramid d-bol to a peak and then come down gradually. Because sutanon and d-bol Aromatase inhibitor (AI) is recommended. Of course I'm thinking of the use of HGH, but we'll see.

So caloric intake has changed a bit and a little less free weights (to reduce the risk of injury ?)
What about AAS consumption ? Still running cycles the same way as before (doses) ?

just about 45 here. have a few cycles under my belt. currently doing test/tren. have done gear for a bit and love it. you didn't say much but most importantly would be your current health obviously. also, how long have you been training? what's your bf level look like? same rules apply no matter if your 30 or 50.

Due to a slower metabolism need for large quantities of food has reduced. Years of hard training have left traces on my knees and elbows. When it comes to AAS I stay away from the heavy androgens or drugs with aggressive side-effects such as tren a. I started to worry about things I had not even considered as a possible heart problems or high BP.

45 here, decatest was my weapon of choice, ( just doing post cycle therapy (pct) right now actually), I found that if I gave myself a few months to low dose decatest, ( 200mg Deca/300cyp week), to let my joints repair, after 3 months of that I jumped to 400 deca/600cyp week.. I've never been stronger and have no problems with joints, mild stage 1 arthritis in my AC's from years of rucking, is gone!. As long as you keep in mind that you are not 25 and are reasonable with your progress expectations you will be fine. I did find that my diet REALLY came into play more so then when I was younger..

I'm 45 as well, and I have to agree with what others said about being careful. I use fewer free weights now (but of course there are some exercises that you just GOTTA use free weights for) in an effort to at least limit injury. I have always been fortunate in that genetically, I sorta won the muscle lottery: my old man ( now in his 70s ) was a body builder and power lifter and even now at his age his is still as thick through the chest as he is wide.. While his gut has grown over the years, he still lifts and he still has 19" arms :) I inherited that from him, and I can almost put muscle on just by looking at weights.....

The thing is: when I hit my 40s, I found that I had to wok twice as hard to put on half as much muscle. I have found that AAS has sorta "evened the playing field for me a bit. My biggest problem now is remembering that I am NOT in my 20s anymore :)

LOL, we should start a group "45 and over" or something like that. In any case, a man 45 years old who lived 25 or 30 years ago, can not be compared to a man who is 45 years old today.

I'm 52... I cycle mostly test/tren... No problems. My body, although it looks like its 20, is not as strong as that of a 20 something. I do a full free weight four day split training routine same as all the serious 20 somethings. On some excercises I use more weight than they do. On major compound movements (presses, deads, squats) I use less. I try to exceed my best everytime I enter the gym, and I'm doing great. I blow every other 50 something lifters out of the water! I'm always cogniscent, however that I'm NOT 20. Any injury I sustain at this point will take longer to heal and might shut me out of the game! So I think, feel, observe as I lift. I usually surprise myself with good gains. So, I continue to push forward. I don't want fear or lack of confidence to hold me back. That shit is only in my head. By body is stronger!
As for diet... I try to consume 4000 cals a day. I require 3000 for maintenance. My diet is very clean. I've tried 5000+ diets before, but my aging digestive system usually rebels. So I accept that limitation.
By blood work is excellent. Total cholesterol is 159 with an LDL of 101. Blood pressure is slightly high of normal. My doc says I'm the healthiest male in his practice of any age. I'm 5'9 180 very lean, BTW.
Only problem I'm having is finding someone my own age to date. Most 50 something's have long ago given up.
Age is just a number. Set hard but realistic goals... And be persistant. When you're tempted to say, "I can't!" Ask yourself, "why not?" When you see someone with a body you admire and want, ask yourself, "why NOT me?"
Proceed "con brio!" And with joy!

Hey guys i,m 42 does anyone know will decca help heal a slighty torn ligament or the muscle, fuked my shoulder up skiing but found in gym shoulder still hurting after a month i pin my glutes mostly but wondered if i shot some into the delt if it<ll help Thanks not to steal the thread just if anyone has any thoughts

Ok, so along with starting this thread, I now realize that so far, I am the oldest here at 56.

All my life I was a cardio fan. I use to run and run and run.... It kinda made me fit although, I never really had strength.

A couple of years ago, this type of activity became a bit too much, so I decided to see if I could develop a minimum of muscle and strength. I had always been the skinny fat type if you know what I mean.

I first started by cleaning up my diet extensively. Not what you body builders would consider clean, but way beyond what most people (even quite fit pones) consider clean. I also started eating a lot more than I used to and I started strength training with classic compound exercises :

Squats, deadlift, rows, bench, overhead press... All with free weights.

Nothing fancing, by I am doing it seriously and pumping iron is pumping iron. Since starting all this, I have gained 22 pounds. I am now 185 lbs at 5'10'' and about 16% body fat (down 5 or 6 % from a few years ago when I was 165 lbs). Funny thing is most people tell me I look really good (meaning healthy) but none notice my body composition change except for my gf. All this to say I am not very muscular and as I gain strength, I do not bulk. That's ok with me, I am out to gain strength mostly.

I am very glad I started this way of life, I have pretty much forgotten all my joint pains and I have no health issues. I like to train very regularly and pretty hard for my age and this is why I am looking into AAS. I have reached a point were the weights are heavy (for me) and so recovery is a real issue from one session to the other. Also at 56, Test levels clearly are going down with all the accompanying nasties : less libido, less energy, feeling sleepy, grumpy, fog brain etc. So having done a whole lot of reading, I am about to try my first cycle to see if it is for me. This cycle will be straight along the one described in the sticky thread :

500 mg test e per week for 12 weeks
12.5 mg exametastane per day for 15 weeks
HCG 1000iu per week starting on week 5
HCG 1000iu per day 10 days up to PCT

PCT Clomid 50 mg a day for 4 weeks
Nolva 40 mg a day for 2 weeks 20 mg a day for 2 weeks

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

41 doing testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) btbjust about to finish a test/eq cycle low dose 250/300. I say like stated above watch your diet food seems to stick around more than in our 20s. Also keep an eye on your blood work. Many young guys do blood work after and before a cycle I suggest doing 1/4ly blood work specially to make sure that everything is on the up and up. Also like stated we tend to break down easier and quicker tgan younger guys so working with the right weight form and know when to take a break. Sometimes taking a few days off is better tyan pushing through some pain and hurting yourself. Other than that the addage age brinhs wsdom is oh so true. If I knew in my 20s about proper weight lifting and diet I think tgings would have been different.

Good luck

I let the test get the best of me a few times when working too closely with some 20-something's at the gym, although i constantly tell myself NOT to compete.. I do anyway.. it's like i leave my actual brain at home when i go to the gym and let my testosterone brain merrily lead me into a pain sandwich that usually entails me trying to do a maneuver that I've never, ever done before.. but happily walk into the trap with a smile.. until I hear that sort of 'gristle-y, rippy-tear-y', spasm in some really important muscle group, then the brain you thought you left at home, comes screaming back from it's vacation and proceeds to rip you a new like a few of my Drill instructors would do when shit went horribly wrong in some major way.

So, lesson; leave the competitiveness at home.. we are too old for that shite.

oh and EQ is another great joint repair product at lower doses like old and stacked did, Better then Deca.

42 and going into week 4 of my first cycle. Using sustanon 350 for my first ever cycle pinning .80 CC on Mon and Thur. Sides I have are: trouble sleeping, tightening of the chest, sensitive hard nipples, random hard ons, ligaments are hurting from heavy weights, orgasms dont seem as intense. Positives: I have gained about 5-7 pds in this period with minimum fat. Strength is out of this world. Muscles are definately getting bigger. So far I am enjoying this.

Up your dossage to a full cc and Sustanon (sust) has to be pinned eod to keep your serum levels stable. Sustanon (sust) and Prop should be more for experienced lifters. Also slow down you will tear something if u go up in weight too fast. At our age is more of a marathon than a sprint.
