I went to the derm today and he told me some intresting things about accutane. Roche or whoever is planning on making it manditory for ever patient to log onto a computer once daily and report how they are. If they are feeling sad or suicidal and shit like that. If not done they cannot continue therapy and cannot recieve next months script. It was supposed to go into effect starting january 1st but pharmacys werent ready and the program had alot of flaws. Seems kinda dumb to me, but what can we do if we take the doctor route. :spank:

Yes, this is considered almost a last ditch effort to keep Accutane on the market. For example, despite all of the warnings and the requirement for woman who may become pregnant to use birth control while using Accutane, many of them don't listen and get pregnant.

I've never been as depressed in my life as I was when I was on Accutane. I just wanted to die for no apparent reason.

I think that there _might_ be a link between Accutane and hypogonadism, but I doubt that anyone has done a study on this.

But Accutane is the only treatment that works for many patients, and I do hope it stays on the market.

There is at least one research company that offers isotretinoin (Accutane). IMHO, they are absolutely crazy for doing so. Just one pregnancy or suicide while using their product, along with a lawsuit, and they can kiss their asses goodbye. I would expect crinimal charges and jail time to be likely.

I never understood that either, I know of 2 sources who produce it themselfs and sell it without any warnings. So now you got a horny guy on a gram of test who fucks his girl and gets her pregnant while hes taking tane.... now theres some seriouse problems.

Well, that wouldn't be a problem. It is only a problem if the mother uses Accutane.

Most of the pregnancies become miscarriages but if not then the baby will very likely have severe birth defects.

I felt absolutely fine on 80mg a day. No depression, no suicidal thoughts. I was however also on a bit of testosterone (maybe around 500mg/w cant really remember). the drug really did help me out and I can honestly say it significantly changed my life for the better. I was depressed because I had acne that couldnt be cured - accutane wiped it out almost completely. Not to mention my bloodwork was fine on it for 5 months straight - case closed in my book.

When I went to the doc I had to sign a pamphlet stating I knew all the risks and what not. One of the things mention is that small traces are passed thrue semen and to wear a condom while on and a month after.

I'm doing 120mg/day I'm on my 6th month. Feel fine, never had any problems. depression, suicide nothing. Only sides I had were dry lips, and some nose bleeds.

Interesting. Thanks for the information.

glad to hear Im not the only one, everyone I takl to seems to go to 40mg and 60 at most yet the doc wants me to go to 100-120 depending on what I can tolerate.

Damn, I wish I remembered what dosage I took. Its only been 15 years. I could use another cycle of it, although the Minocycline is doing a better job this time around.

They also made physicians register to be accutane providers....In future rights will be limited to dermatologists and those grandfathered into the rule

Just found some more data on this:

Reference
"Accutane is found in the semen of male patients taking Accutane, but the
amount delivered to a female partner would be about 1 million times lower
than an oral dose of 40 mg. While the no-effect limit for isotretinoin induced
embryopathy is unknown, 20 years of postmarketing reports include 4 with
isolated defects compatible with features of retinoid exposed fetuses; however
2 of these reports were incomplete, and 2 had other possible explanations for
the defects observed."

mranak, when you came off tane did your skin stay clear for a long time? What about when cycling?
It stayed 90% better for many years. Well worth it. More recently, probably because of my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), my acne has gotten worse. Well, it was pretty damn bad, but then I started on Retin-A again and it got better. Then I started on minocycline (for another skin problem) and it got _much_ better.
