Alchohol and BodyBuilding

Red wine 1-2 glasses a night. Father and grandfather are alcoholics. I never had a problem with it. Red wine has the highest anti oxidant content. Moderate drinking is associated with improved health markers like higher HDL and lower LDL and tryglyceride levels. Moderate drinkers live longer, healthier lives than non-drinkers and heavy drinkers. Moderate drinking consists of 1-2 drinks for women and 3-4 drinks for men. Cheers :beertoast:

Lol, daily. I forgot to add that.

Others consider 2-3 a moderate consumption. I keep it at 1-2 personally. My HDL was >60 which is optimal.

It does sound like much too me, that's why i stick to two drinks per night. It's daily though. Different institutions have different guidelines. I personally feel better with one to two glasses per night with dinner. Cabernet sauvignon has one of the highest anti-oxidant contents of any wine. Malbecs too. The type of grape affects the anti oxidant content. Cabernet grapes have thick skins. The grape is left for longer so it leeches out more anti oxidants than reuglar grapes.

I havnt had a drink in about 3 weeks and all this talk of booze!

SOMEONE GET ME A SHOT OF TEQUILA AND AN AMF!

It doesn't have to be red wine. You can take 1-3 shots of tequila for health reasons. Though honestly, i believe the mechanism of the increased HDL, and decrease in LDL comes from an increase in aromatase activity. Alcohol is know to increase estrogen. Either by increase aromatase activity directly or hindering the liver's metabolism of estrogen. I dont remember which one, maybe both.
