An Observation

Why is it that all the little john basedow wannabe fags are always doing the light weight isolation movements while the big guys at the gym are doing heavy compound movements? I know it's an obvious answer but it bugs me to no end when I see a 6', 150lb. guy in the gym doing a chest workout consisting of all flyes and cable movements during which time he constantly interrupts other beginner's workouts giving them "advice" on how to get bigger. I wanted to kill that guy last night. I'm through venting, discuss.

haha im 6' 150 lbs. thats like me except i never give other beginners advice because i know im still a beginner. but i dont do all those iso crap any more thanks to pb and using some common sense. now its squat, dead, bench all the way.

Because, if you'll notice, the little guys are the ones that think they're big. The big guys are always looking for ways to get bigger. Little guys have a Napoleon complex. Big guys are considerate of other lifters. Little guys always want to tell you all they (think they) know. Big guys generally want to shut up and learn from somebody that knows more than they do.

In short, the little guys don't realize that none of the shit they do works, but still think they're the shit.

Good man. You're not going to be 150 for long.

So true, all of those isolation movements might be nice for cutting up. I never could gain an ounce, until I made heavy squats, and deadlifts the core of my workout program. The only time I feel it is necessary to " coach " someone is when they look like they are going to injure themselves.

yeah i never say anything to anyone unless they ask..ive seen trainers at my gym teaching horrible squat form and just piling on the weight..i guess its eay to get repeat biz if you make te client think they are progressing..

there are a few dudes at my gym that after doing 1 pressing move hit the cabel from every angle..then do 1 arm cables all these wierd moves..i think its funny..tehn of course hit the pec deck

ya this badbody old guy at the gym tried to give me advise the other day on how i was doing a tricep workout. I just acted like i was listening and kept doing it my way.

Back home, I'd give advice all the time, simply because I knew every one of these people personally (small town and all), and they all knew that I knew my shit (better than most around there, anyway).
Now, I don't even open my mouth. I may laugh at someone halfass squatting, but I never let them know what I'm laughing about, or that they'll most likely hurt themselves in the near future. If they want to know, they can observe somebody who does know, or ask for advice.

This fat ass trainer at my gym was like do you have knee problems? i was like no why, he was like well you better start looking up surgeons for future knee surgery, because you go too deep with your squats.

I swear 90% of the people at the gym on campus don't bend their knees more than 10 degrees when squatting. People look at me like I'm doing something wrong when my ass nearly touches the ground. Apparently I'm the one doing something wrong bc my body is being lowered by more than a foot.

most folks who refuse to squat deep will make up all kinda shit to justify their high squatting asses. we have run out all the high squatters at my gym or they have converted to deep squats. even the girls at our gym bury their squats. and it is a lovely site to behold. i love spotting them. =0)

I like laying under them and tonguing their ass when they go deep enough. It gives them motivation.

I've had the same experience.

It's simple - squatting right takes a lot of pain and guts. And why go through that when you can slap on 315 on the bar and do knee-jerks.
