Any thoughts on crossfit?

I'm not sure u would gain mass but u would defiantly be in some killer shape. I thought about doing some cross fit for more of a cardio/muscle workout. I don't see gaining much mass..

You can make some decent strength gains with crossfit and gain some mass but that all goes back to diet. I have seen some pretty big dudes in the crossfit gyms, strong as hell too.

You can always work the deads, cleans, squats, OHPs on a 5x5 or 5x3 (or 6x6, 8x4, 10x3 etc) method for some strength and also gain some good thickness. Crossfit isn't really focused on hypertrophy so getting swoll, probably not. Strong and dense, yes.

I lift power most of the year, 5x5, 5x3 progressive. I throw some weeks of smolov type iterations at times to bring up squats, or bench, deads. I will then go into a 12 weeks or so of a blended powerlifting/ crossfit hybrid. Works pretty well.

Best advice, don't rely on just one program. Switch it up. Get super strong, then do some crossfit, etc etc. See how your body reacts.

I've been doing Crossfit for 3 years and in the best shadow of my life. 3 months ago started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) at only 150mg test cyp a week and gain a lean 10 lbs and lost almost 5% bf with no change in diet.y goals aren't for huge gains just to best as healthy as I can. I'm guessing if I upped my cal intake a few thousand to maybe 5000 daily I would have better gains but I'm happy with what I've got so far. I've always been a hard gainer but you may have better gains than me. Only one way to find out is to try it

Most of the guys I know who do crossfit can't build much mass but they are very strong ... I do crossfit once in a while for cardio but never when I'm trying to build mass

Google "Crossfit White Papers" if you want a good source on crossfit HQs antics. The metcon is one of the only outwardly original idea in crossfit but it was taken from the Wrestling Physical Conditioning Encyclopedia. With that said there are some good gyms out there. The gym I trained at when I lived in Florida has over 20 athletes that front squat over 300 lbs. That's pretty good for your average dude. However, none of the crossfit gyms where I live now sport a large population strong athletes.

I've been doing Crossfit for about a month. I consider it more of a cutting type workout - it's leaning me out a lot. It is very dependent on your 'box' (what crossfit calls it's gyms). I personally love it because I just think it's fun and it is the only way to make cardio palatable to me.

The most frequent crossfitters at my box are in great shape but more in a 300-movie kind of way than a 'pumping iron'-movie kind of way.

Some people think the high volumes to failure of compound exercises leads to sloppiness and injuries so be careful.

I have been doing a crossfit workout
3x per week at the end of my traditional
workout and have seen some good strength
gains!!

probably going to do more of it during my cut.
it's been very addictive for me especially
when trying to beat the last timed workout.

there are people that start crossfit because they wanna change from the regular gym bicep curls exercises to something different more challenging.i believe if you wanna build some serious mass you should not do crossfit but if you wanna be strong big and fast same time then crossfit!

Crossfit , as a trainer I recommend people to stay away from unless you have been an athlete ALL your life and you are already in shape. Crossfit rewards speed of movement over anything else, including form.. I know locally allot of the Chiro's love Crossfit boxes as they provide a steady and almost chronic level of patients who've snapped a kip up on the rings without understanding any of the dynamics actually involved, they thrown a clean and press and hyper extended the GH so often that shoulders sit in the cup and rattle around. Cross fit is a product for those that are in tune with their bodies. I recommend caveman for those that want to try something more function and challenging. At least there form is more important then how fast you can go and hurt yourself.

Worst fitness product since dancing with the oldies and to me, both as useful. Certification program is a joke and irresponsible at best.

Almost the biggest load of bullshit I have ever read about crossfit.

If you have a good coach, at a good gym, none of that should be a problem.

You can get a personal training cert off of Groupon, so don't even talk about that.

hardly, what I'm using as examples are purely from reality; people I've worked with after their 'crossfit experience' that needed to rehab. If Crossfit does not reward speed over form then why do they allow snap up pull ups, kickup shoulder press and even at cross fit games the clean and press is shit form. Why, when a WOD is put out, it's followed by a 'time to beat' . If your a crossfit drone, good for you I'm sure your enjoying the koolaid. But ANYONE who's got 1/2 a brain chould be able to, from just watching cross fit, easily see that there is a total lack of form.

I did Keneitics at a university and have been a trainer since 90' .. a few years before groupon.. cockwallet .

Oh boy, we have us a regular genius, someone who is stuck on shit they taught 100 years ago and thinks nothing could ever be better.

Like I said, if the people you know lack form, then they lacked coaching. Kipping (not snap up) pullups are not the same as pullups, nor are they said to be. In the gym I go to some workouts have strict pullups, some have chest to bar, some have kipping, and so on.

And its not a kickup shoulder press, it's called a push press, a totally different movement, with totally different form and expectations.

Again, it's not a clean and press, but a clean and jerk. Now tell me how any of the reps in this video are shit form. CrossFit - Rich Froning Does "Grace" at 225lbs in 4:49 - YouTube

Before you bash something maybe you should have more knowledge of it, and maybe your grammar should be at least on a 5th grade level "cockwallet".

Wow a crossfit drone if I ever heard one.. you assume much about me, but know very little, not unexpected from a a typical drone of the crossfit world. Arrogant and dullardly all wrapped into one pile of dung. You can try to explain it away as a 'kip' but from what I aand most people learned to do in gymnastics.. that is no kip.

However, I've got better things to do then argue with another drone. Point to be made; I've been doing this probably longer then you've been alive I've been a professional and Olympic level athlete. I will not recommend crossfit to anyone.. Just for the simple reason that they end up around knucklefuckers like you.

I've been lifting for 30 years and in my opinion crossfit is one of the best ways to get in great shape. There is no doubt that beginners need to get good coaching and there is of course always the chance of getting injured if you get sloppy but there is great value to be had from crossfit.

^^ couldn't agree more!!

i have already seen crazy strength gains from crossfit just by throwing in short workouts
at the beginning of my routine. Anybody that practices good form before going balls deep
are going to see good results from it. I will definitely be doing more during my cutting cycle.
