Are my legs too sore?

evansss

GET BIG
I dont know why, but if I work my legs out on Monday, they'll be sore till about friday. I know thats way to long for my wheels to be hurting. I hit them hard, but I'm pretty sure I know my limits by now. Stretching and Glutamine is present...what else can I do?

I ride a stationary bike at a moderate pace to get a little stretch and some blood flowing, don't know how much it helps but that is what I do after squats. I also perform my last set of squats with just the bar.

I wouldn't worry too much unless you find your strength isn't back up after a couple days. I work muscles when they are still sore and haven't ever had a problem with it.

I go for a jog a couple of days later which gets the blood flowing again and seems to speed up the healing process.

If I'm not mistaken, he just said "wheels".

.....

Just saying.

On a side note, I like to do some sprint work the day after legs. For example, yesterday I lifted legs and today I did sprint work by pulling a sled.
2 reps of 80 yds with 2 plates on the sled
2 reps with 3 plates
2 reps with 4 plates
1 rep backwards w/ 4 plates
4 reps of 40 yards backwards with 2 plates

My legs have felt great (but tired) all day and will feel really good tomorrow.

I just keep the carbs and overall calories high.

I do the sprint work so that I am not limping all day. I stretch before/after every workout and at night. I'm not saying the sprint times I'm putting up are great and yeah my legs feel like jello during the workout but today my legs feel fresh.

I don't know why your legs hurt all week, my suggestion would be to cut your leg day and spread them withhin another workout twice a week so your not overloading. Or you can sacrifice intensity or repetitions or both. There is no magic cure, no glutamine no running, no stretching these theories have been tested and been proven to not have an effect on DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), on the contrary i feel it is very important to jog because it promotes good ciculation and overtime your body will adapt and circulate nutrients to affected areas quicker than when untrained, which will ultimately aid in the healing process. Try getting in a hot tub after your workout as a cool down. You can stretch all you want after a workout but the next day your still gonna be sore as shit, but just cause stretching doesn't aid in the healing process doesn't mean you should ignore it. Legs are accountable for a lot of muscle mass and just like any other muscle if you do chest every monday with the same exercises ur not going to see the same results. Work your legs out less, more often; try this out it should help some

Are you still on cycle or off?? Mine do this everytime I go off cycle, like fucking clock work. While on, I'm maybe sore for a day, max!

nah im all natty. i substituted regular squats with hack squats and was sore but wasn't in pain like i usually am last week...i found that kinda odd.

i think it's alright to be sore for days...of course, assuming the soreness subsides with each day and not still feeling the kind of sore you had the next morning after leg workout still.

could be inactivity, evansss.

Sauna for 10 minutes after helps alot. But my legs are slightly sore all the time.. Also watch the caffiene to much messes with your adrenal respnse which can affect inflamation.

I do a good warm up and then stretch LIKE HELL after a serious leg workout and then at least one more time before I go to bed. The day after, and maybe the next day, I try to do some other leg activity, even if it's just a few body-weight squats in the living room, just to get the blood flowing again. I find that's the easiest way to get over soreness, is to do some LIGHT exercise for a day or two after a real intense workout.
