arms vs calves

he must be short if he is 170 there (the wrestling guy)

rip im confused.... the omega tattoo is on diff legs in each picture:scratchhe

The first pic was taken by a friend with a camera. The second is a self shot off a mirror so it is reversed. Lol. Tattoo is on my right calf.

I hate when people don't work legs and there are a ton of those people at the gym. With that being said, I have seen guys work legs for years and never get the growth they want. Here are my calfs. Built them up over the years. I used to be fat growing up so maybe thats what helped. Lol. Actually mountain biking built them up quite a bit too.

Those are some serious work horses right there Rip! Now go put those suckers to work lol

Leg strength is extremely important for MMA and any type of fighting really but size and strength of a muscle are not directly proportional.

He mentioned something about leg pressing 700lbs. I would think that would be an easy weight for someone who trains for fighting. I wasn't referring to size, just the fact he was crying about having small joints, not training legs, etc.

Leg press strength does not cross over to athletic performance nearly as well as squat strength does. I haven't done leg presses since I was a teenager and Im not sure if i could do 700lbs on it myself but I think he said its at a comfort for him which to me implies its not his max weight in the lift. But he was judged on the basis of calf size by previous posters and Denis even messaged him not to skip leg day bc as body builders most ppl here expect to see big muscles. The guy doesn't train for mass if he's restricted to weight classes. He can't afford to add much mass and start fighting in another class, he trains for strength primarily and keeping a strict caloric intake with different styles of training will allow him to get stronger without really getting bigger. Maybe I quoted the wrong person lol but my bottom line opinion to that guy is FUCK the leg press and do real squats :p

Regardless of mass he should still be strong, no? And if he trains for some sort of fighting, he should train each muscle group... correct? Those are the only two points I was trying to make. I only used the leg press example, because he used it in his reply to Dennis. I personally haven't used it for a long time either... but I know I was able to press well over 700 lbs when I did use it, and I was probably around 160 back then.

I would hope he's strong yes bc it's important. Not as important as technique or awareness maybe but having upper hand in strength def has benefits if you're trying to get out of a hold or overpower someone. If he's training for sport or fighting you'd want to train the body as a complete system not in body part splits. Full range of motion compound lifts should be the backbone of his workout with very few isolation lifts such as leg press or curls or db flies etc. I see what you're saying now, i thought initially the point was made that if he is strong he should be bigger. My bad bro, ill still take that nip slip ;). Honestly from the sound of it, I think German can out leg press me at this point lmao but that would also go to show how leg press is almost useless for pure strength/athletic performance but favored by bodybuilders for the hypertrophy and isolation of certain muscles.

When I got into work yesterday, I had a good laugh.

One of the conference guys transferred to Valet. So, he offically wears shorts. Oh my god. He needs to put pants on. One of those, chest and arms only guys. Hunch back... Retarded looking tools.

I was wearing a Universal shirt. I just finished biking, head phones are still in, but he made sure he came into tell me I have a nice shirt. I almost felt like saying, "nice calves bro, what'd you do for them?"
I will say it to him, I really don't give a fuck. I will let yous know about the response. I also want to try and sang a picture of his legs too, just so you can have a chuckle..

I don't understand how you neglect half your fucking body.

My gym is infested with this type! Aside from one guy who works the living shit out of his legs on leg day but can't get the damn things to grow...eats like a horse too...unlucky on the genetic side I guess

Right right right. I understand all this. I was just passively talking shit about the "fighter" complaining about how it hurts him to do 700lbs on the leg press. I'm not sure why he was even talking about leg pressing, I thought fighter training was closer to mobility and functional training...
Now, as for those nip pics...... :tounge2:

I think most of us like leg press more because, it's less back crushing!
And fuck, who doesn't like pushing a shit ton of weight ;)

Those calves aren't even that bad. Are you kidding? They are such a genetic thing too. I've seen heaps of fat cunts walking around with massive calves. This is nothing to be proud of. Some skinny kid with small calves but better muscle proportion overall looks much better.

He isn't skinny. He's got a built upper body, and no fucking legs. I've never seen this guy; and I mean EVER seen him do legs. He has back, chest, and arm day, that's it!

according to the preachers of symmetry they should be the same size, but I'll take bigger biceps than calves any day. If your biceps are big nobody is going to be looking at your calves saying they aren't symettrical to his arms...

Years ago the infamous Steeve Reeves said your neck should also be the same measurement as your arms and calves. my arms are 22 inches and I'll take a pass on the 22 neck thanks. hard enough to find clothes now.

if you got 14" calves and 18" arms i can only assume its arm day every day for you, plus you'll feel insecure when your walking around in shorts cause of your twig legs... legs > arms... just about everyone whose been in the gym has big arms, but not everyones got big legs :P

why the fuck would you strive for this

There's actually a reason to the guy in the top pic. From what I heard when all the "friends don't let friends skip leg day" memes popped up with that picture... he was in the military and got shot or hit by an IED or some shit. He was in a wheelchair for a while, which is why his legs are so small.

I've got some freaky calves, genetics mostly but trained heavy for years and they just grew accordingly (like you guys with naturally big traps!) literally the kind of calves that strangers stop to look or ask to touch them. Calves are rare, arms are everywhere. That being said my calves measure about 20" and arms flexed are 19.5 and I always learned they should be about the same for symmetry. Shape however is a lot different topic than just size, ankle size, separation, etc all make for much different looks. I'll post pics soon, just signed up today after stalking for a bit. Now if I could just get those wings that look so cool...
