Bagels instead of Brown Rice?

So I normally eat brown rice twice a day. Around 1 cup to get 300 calories and a butt load of carbs.

Now my question is. I bought this whole wheat bagels for around 270 calories and the same amount of carbs.

Could I just eat bagels every meal instead to get my carbs and calories in?

I just want to know if bagels 3 times a day/every day is good for you or if it even matters?

Bagels are processed and refined grains and I find I personally do much better without those in my diet.

Hence, I stick to rice, whole oats, or sweet potatoes.

Do you flavor your rice at all? It's just tough to eat...even with butter and/or salt and pepper...maybe I got the wrong kind but it is cheap and nasty.

Brown rice well what can one say. Its brown rice. I can get pretty creative but have never found a way to prepair it that may me say. Hey I like brown rice!

Yeah that's what I do. I thought it was just because I bought the cheap shit that's why it was so fucking nasty. I can do it...just every day as I slowly stuff that garbage down my throat I think to myself "There has to be better tasting brown rice than this!"

I will, the best way to cook it believe it or not is in the oven.

1 cup of b rice to 1.5 cups of boiling water, with some salt, & EVOO if you like.

Put everything into a shallow bake dish and cover, very tightly, with two layers of foil. One hour in the oven at (250-275) degrees. Let it sit for a while when it comes out the of the oven.
it comes out light & fluffy, separate grains.

I've also added a little basil and lowfat coconut milk, really good. :yumyum:

I just boil it in water...dump it in a bowl or tupperware...and eat it. Nothing added. I've tried butter...and salt and pepper...but boy...when you microwave it up and it dries out...bleh

How much water are you cooking it with (1cup of rice to how many cups of water?)

someone once told me that if I wanted to be successful I should no longer view food as something that is to be enjoyed, but rather as something that is simply a tool for success or failure. It's hard to do, and I haven't been able to completely separate it. Probably because I'm human and love food.

Well said....food isjust fuel for me, not to feed my pallet.

I choke down all the chicken, rice, and tuna durning the day, and then enjoy my steak at night.
