Best exercise to get a 6 pack?

Which is why i said in the first sentence of my following post, that it comes down to a persons bodystyle and what works best for them. I was only using myself as an example.

Yes I saw, but you were talking about core strength. Which is different from 6-pack abs. So I didn't take these posts into context of each other.

I see what your saying its cool. What i was trying to say was just from my own personal experiance, lower bodyfat and specific core training ( ab isolation movements) was what worked best for me.

...and now you do.

Squats helped me develop mij abs quicker than doing countless sit-ups and crunches.

IMO if you do not develop your abs during squat you are doing something wrong.

But to each his own I guess...and what works for me doesn't necessarilly work for others.

Showing abs is an entirely different matter...abs will only show if your BF lets them ;)

I still dont get how squats involve your abs? lower back yes....abs?

There is def. truth that your abs come into play alot with the compound movements. And there is also truth that these movements, since they recruit the most muscle groups for any single lift, stimulate hormone production better than isolation movements and that in turn can lead to changes in body composistion. However the debate that has been going about Squats and Deads vs. Isolation is ongoing on many boards. The overall answer is..
1) without low bodyfat you will almost Never see your abs. I see guys walking around all the time that probably have never done 1 situp outside of there Highschool PE class, but have low enough bf that their abs are there and can be seen plain as day.

2) WHATEVER WORKS BEST FOR YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL........as i said, for me to really bring mine out personally, i used weighted isolation movements and built them like any other muscle. For TPH1976, the squats and heavy compound movements are what etched out his abs.

Seems mine pop out the more fat I lose around the middle, no matter how much I train abs. Whoever said focus on cardio seems to be right. Do some situps or anything everyday or every other day and keep burning fat around the middle, they will pop out.

how do you "burn fat around the middle", i dont think its that easy lol...

where the hell did all this squat shit come from? I've never heard of someone getting a six pack from doing squats!
and not doing curls unless you can do weighted chins? wtf are you talking about

I can remember when it seemed odd that training my back more effectively would help out my bench press. Back supports front, front supports back. Squats require the entire core, front and back. I seem to remember that MRI scans even show heavy ab utilization during squats.

Belts support the entire core front, back and sides and you should feel pressure from all sides because you are using all sides. I'm not saying I use belts because I dont :)

Pay attention next time you do squats and you'll feel ab tension, front or back squats.
