Blood in semen every now and then

I been on HRT for probably a little over a year now and every once in a while I'll notice some blood in my semen. The most recent time is was pretty bad. Can hrt be causing this? My balls are pretty much shriveled up to nothing.

Yikes, I've never heard of that reaction before.
I've been on for over 15 years now and have never had that sort of issue.
Might be time to call a doc.

Yeah I have an appointment soon, I'll tell him. I just googled it, most of the time it's nothing to worry about.

Hematospermia is usually prostate related. PSA panel could indicate some issues. But there are other issues that could cause this, such as STD's and trauma. Any issues with urination? Frequent urination or low flow?

It has to be your prostate. If you have been having trouble urinating, it's almost 100% prostate.

Good luck man. Keep us posted.

Hematospermia maybe prostate related but not usually, especially at such a young age it will most likely be something else. It might be STD related. It may also be a urethral stricture. It could also be due to trauma to the region. Most of the time symptoms clear up on their own and require no further medical attention. But as Austinite mentioned it is a good idea to get a PSA panel to rule out issues with the prostate. At your age, I really would not stress about it too much but I would definitely follow this up with lab work and a visit to the urologist. I hope this helps you.

huh? Where do you see his age?

Hematospermia is absolutely, 100% and without a doubt a big concern and never, under any circumstances should be taken lightly, regardless of age. I was trying to be less alarming, but let's not kid each other here. I certainly hope it turns out to be something easily and quickly manageable.

1st year medical school, in any field... Blood where it doesn't belong, you immediately bring the patient in. This isn't blood in stool.

Good catch on this. For some reason I assumed he was 28. I apologize for the assumption.

I don’t think it should be taken lightly but it’s not as big a concern as it sounds. It usually clears up on its own in most cases. I’ve gone through the process and have talked to several urologists in this regard. It could be prostate related (in which case it is a lot more serious) but in most cases it’s not even prostate related.

And I agree with your medical school comment he should definitely have it checked out even if it clears up on its own. I respect a lot of your views Austinite, but this is one where I tend to disagree. So let’s agree to disagree and hope for the best outcome for our fellow forum member.
