So, I finish training a client and have a meeting. All us trainers are sitting in the office and I know that my bp is high due to the feeling in my throat/neck. Anyway, I decide to take my bp and it comes back 156/103. The owner of the gym freaks and gets my client, a nurse, off the treadmill. She takes my bp again and it's like 166/113...I'm freaking a little. The nurse tells me to go to ER and that I shouldn't drive.....yadayadayada...I text my Dr. who is also a client and tell him what's going on...he tells me to tell everyone to chill the fuck out and relax. I met him later tonight and he said that that bp was not a big deal for the short term...he continues to tell me that unless my bp is 180/100+ for years that it's not a big deal. He said that it takes years and years of borderline high bp to damage your kidneys. It's not considered an "emergency" unless it's >200/100 and you have symptoms such as headaches, vision issues....OK, I could go on and on but I'm boring myself. Be safe.
