Can low T cause anxiety?

Hi guys

Few things about myself.....
38 years old
6ft, 228lbs
Total test 241.....I have had 4 bloodworks done last year, 241 was the best, lowest was 229. My Dr has now said he is going to send me to see an Endo', but being in the UK and having the NHS I have an 11 week wait.
One of the horrible symptoms I get that I don't know if it could be caused by low T is anxiety. I get it really bad, as in that bad I cant travel further than 5 miles from my home. I cant go i to Supermarkets etc. The Dr has me on 15mg of Valium per day, 40mg Celexa and 0.5mg Klonopin......Yet I am still anxious? I also am irritable, very low sex drive, no confidence, tired and very poor concentration.
I was born with both testicles in my stomach to which they were removed in my early teens, I wonder if this may have had an effect? Also I did use oral Anabolic Steroids in my 20's for Bodybuilding.
Any help would be great as I feel so low guys, zero confidence and anxious all the time.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Testosterone and estrogen play a large role interacting with the other nuclear receptors; which will and causes imbalances with your mood and anxiety. Your problem may very well be a cause from testosterone/estrogen imbalances. It may not, it would be unfair to look at such a complicated issue without proper labs available. A good starting point would be to get your testosterone levels and estrogen "normalized" and go from there so that you can rule out that as a causation.

Testosterone has been found to reduce fear in clinical studies. If it will help you, that is uncertain but you wouldn't want to exacerbate underlying anxiety.

In England, they will probably put you on the gel for a while and see how you respond. It will take time to get everything regulated so be patient and follow your doctor's recommendations.

I can say first hand when I was on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) the first time a year ago, I was able to get off all meds including 2mg klon. Then the docs took me off and everything came back, it is amazing what testosterone can do if you have it and what it can cause if you lack it.

Raising your testosterone levels can definitely help with this. One huge weight off your shoulders would be simply that you know you're "man" again..lol. It sounds stupid, but essentially the differentiation between men and women is mediated by testosterone, and when you're without it you feel inadequate, like your not living up to your full potential. Improving your levels should help.

Thank you so much for the replies.

One thing that worries me.....If Test say makes my anxiety worse then after a shot of say Enanthate then it is in my system for a few weeks......Is there any oral I can take just so I can get an idea of how I will feel off Test? I don't think the likes of Dianabol give the same feeling/help that Testosterone does?

The Dr did put me on 'Testo-Gel' I forgot to say......It did not work, blood levels stayed the same, but been told since that some guys do not respond well to the gels?

I responded amazingly to the gels, levels over 1,000 ng/dL, but after awhile the gels usually** stop working. I believe it has something to do with changes in the epidermis (mainly thickening). Regardless, this is the case for most guys that gel works for. The only thing I can say is that its worth the risk of increased anxiety to find out if T works for you. Maybe get some prop and try that out? Its got a lot shorter half-life so that'd give you a pretty good idea of what test does for you.

The gels and patches didn't work for me at all. Different docs were all trying a bunch of meds all trying to treat the effects of low T and stress from being permenately injured and getting jaked around.
I hated it but wife had about enough of my anger, etc so I gave the meds a whirl for her. Honestly, I felt like dog doo on all the stuff they tired. I felt like a frigin test subject for failed meds for depression, anxiety, sleep etc. on label and off label I tired it all. Best thing for me is when my Test levels is high. Still not perfect since most primaries don't understand levels need to be steady ad not raising n dropping. I hope to get em more leveled out in future.
I think you'll be pleased with results if they get you to a steady level. T plays a bigger role in ones life then most docs give it credit for or realzie.

Really helpful replies.....Thank you!

I may just get some Prop' and give that a go Pantalones. I have some Pharma grade Test E here but to nervous to take it just in case I don't like the feeling as it is in the system for way to long. I have asked my source if he can get any Andriol tabs as they are pure Test but in a capsule. I know Dr's etc don't like prescribing them as they are hard on the liver but if I get on with them then I can move on to the shots. I called my Endo the other week to try and bring the appointment forward, she cant do it and she also said that for TRT she would use Sustanon (sust) 250 at 1 shot every 21 days, I said I thought the time gap between each shot was to long and maybe should be around 10-12 days, she said she has never done Sustanon (sust) 250 shots any lower than 21 days. If need be I can obtain Pharma grade gear and just get a load of Test E in.

Honestly, I believe that you should do everything, within reasonable means, to ensure that you look and feel healthy. If that means you order some of your own test and play around with doses, then certainly. Where are you located? Depending on location you could find a competent anti-aging/HRT doc who would more than likely get you set up with a proper TRT protocol and anti estrogens if need be. 21 days is a crazy amount of time between shots, and I wouldn't do anything really over a week. Its just not the way the body wants it, and it may even result in more anxiety due to high peaks and low troughs. Just my $0.02

In my humble opinion yes. I had what they called Generalized Anxiety for years. They said it was a version of depression, even when I have never been depressed. Just worry a lot. It sounds like you have anxiety attacks. I've had those a few times, but mine was just generalized. So they treated me for 10 years with anti depressants, kolonapin and ambien for sleep. Well, I found out my T was 285, or something like that. I started TRT and although I still have mild anxiety from time to time, I'm no longer on the other meds. So in my humble opinion, yes, it can cause anxiety........
