Cardio After Weight Session?

Hi,

What are your thoughts on this for fat loss/keeping the fat off?

In the past, I trained clean with 2 guys that were doing local shows, and they used to do the cross trainer for 30 mins after weights, not training for a show. They would also train 1 body part per day 7 days a week too, but they were also using upwards of a gram of just test, plus some other gear depending on if it was close to a show or not. I never really saw any difference personally with this, I just stayed the same w regard to strength bodyfat and body weight.

I have always had it beat into me that cardio should be done on off days, or sometime other than around the weight training, again, what are your thoughts?

I always run to the gym, work out, and run home. I do a 3 day split with 1 day off, on the day off I hike just to stay loosened up. I only notice on leg day that my squat suffers a little bit compared to if I don't run. It's only about 10 pounds less, but it's not enough for me to not want to run to the gym. It's 3 miles to the gym, and I do it around 18 minutes there, so it's not a super fast pace. My legs are by no means worn out from it so it doesn't hinder my lifting. I have heard people say don't do cardio before you lift, and also to do your cardio before you lift. I guess if you are trying to max out, then you wouldn't want to do anything that takes any energy away from your muscles before hand. But, I like running to and from the gym, so do whatever works for you!

i like to do cardio everyday after my workout for 20minutes. dont do it any longer than that and dont do high intensity cardio because you will burn muscle along with fat!

I think it's generally a good idea to do whatever is most important to you first, if you're doing them back to back.

I personally like cardio first because it's a great warm up and I do a lot of mountaineering so cardio is very important to me. I do eat a carb snack after cardio to make sure I have enough fuel to lift hard though.

There are pros and cons.

I have been reading about this for years and have gone back and forth.

Morning cardio and post weight training is best for fat burn. If you are interested in cardio exercise doesnt matter when it is done. Like stated above too much after training and you will begin to burn muscle, all depends what you are currently going for

It all really depends on the person, I do cardio in the am and go back to the gym in the evening to lift. After my lifting session I do 30 minutes of cardio. Unless its legs then I dont do cardio in the morning or afterwards.

Does any of this change when on cycle vs off? I thought I had read that because AAS put your body in an anabolic state, the catabolic effects of cardio could be avoided, which is one of the factor that made AAS work for cutting

I used to do cardio every day after weights. I cut down to 3 times a week, and my body seemed alot happier, same weight maintenance and I was stronger. But to each his own

Experiment see what your body reacts to... Nothing like experience. Defiance- If youre on AAS and bulking then maybe alittle cardio everyday before your weights maybe 10min cool down post weight training. But because of large amount of carbs being consumed alittle cardio wont hurt to burn some unnecesary fat

cardio after weights IMO helps recovery and keeps blood flowing to the muscles for a short period after 15min on the tredmill after workout is a must "IMO" well i tend to do 5-10 lol
