Advice needed please.

My Dr has said that I can try Clomid for TRT, anyone else used this, any side effects?

Stats.... Male, 42 years old, 232lbs, 6ft, BF-21%. Natty Test levels 242 and E2 56 so very high E2 levels.

All you can do is try. Id start at 25mg EOD and wait about 8 weeks. Get bloods. Monitor how you feel very closely. At the end of 8 weeks assess your bloods and go from there. You may need to up to 25mg ED, you may not. It may not be for you. Some say that it does not agree with them emotionally.

I'm not sure I ever stopped crying while on Clomid. I had much better results on Nolvadex/Tamoxifen. But in the long term, just never felt great. Long term as in I was on Tamoxifen for years. Those two are good for restarts, but I rarely see anyone who has been on them a while and loving life.

Thanks for the fast replies guys!

Oh, it can make some emotional, I am emotional as it is, maybe due to high E2 levels?

One huge thing.....Can Clomid cause anxiety as I suffer badly from it.

I wonder if my Dr may prescribe me something like Tamoxifen, wonder why he suggested Clomid? Reading on the net just now and it seems it turns many into emotional wrecks so think I may steer clear of it. The other one he suggested was Arimidex but he said this one is very strong and would think about putting me on it if no results from Clomid?

Arimidex is a aromatase inhibitor, clomid is a SERM. Two different worlds... from my understanding AI mono-therapy is not very common?

When diagnosed I had the same test levels as your current. I did 2.5 yrs Clomid starting at 25ed then bumped to 50 for a while. It worked ok for a while. No bad sides except it affected my vision in the end (I have lots of "floaters" in my eyes now, but resolving since I went off- also I think Cialis has helped).

I don't recommend it. I'd ask for injections straight away. The Clomid got my levels up to 500 but the symptoms of low t got progressively worse. Eventually they were debilitating and I went onto injections.

I forgot to mention high e2 can cause really bad anxiety. Happened to me and had happened to plenty of other fellas here, but with that said you never want to go crazy with an AI... I did so and suffered from low e2 for a good month. My joints physically hurt so bad I could barely lift.

So if he does switch you to arimidex for some reason and you're not using T with it then I suggest you proceed with extreme caution. But there is a good chance your anxiety will improve with a optimal e2 level.

All the newbie docs are on the clomid train. The problem is that it just doesn't usually alleviate symptoms.

I also think it is suppressive to the somatotropic axis (suppresses your GH secretion).

Hope this helps.

From experience I can tell you this ignorance isn't limited to newbie docs!

SERM therapy shot my SHBG up to 55-60. That 800-900 TT I had was still yielding low free T. I think its pretty common for that to happen, and it kind of negates the positives.

I'm a new TRT patient and my doc has had me on clomid 25mg every day for the past 2 months. My total test went from mid 200's to mid 400's, but none of my low T symptoms improved. Based on the advice I received on this board and the research I've done, I'm making the switch to cypionate injections.
