deadlift grip

When your doing deads and you grab the bar with one palm facing your body and the other facing away from you (not sure of the exact terminology) how many of you switch up the the direction of each hand between sets or workout days?

The reason I ask is I'm begining to notice that one of my pecs is outgrowing the other. I've been making huge gains on my deadlifts but I always do deads with my right palm facing me and my left one facing away. I'm wondering if this could be part of the problem.

Thanks everyone

I switch in the middle of my set. Keep everything even. Also, when possible (the weight I'm using is light enough) I use the overhand grip for the entire set, to work on my grip.

I grip the bar with both hands facing me for every set and use straps to help hold the bar. I have tried the over hand/under hand grip and I find it very uncomfortable, so I opt for the straps.

use the hook grip and no straps needed. it doesnt hurt too bad until you start pullin 405 or more. eventually the nerves in the thumb will go dead and then the pain will subside. course if you a BBer and do grip/forearm work other wise then straps are fine.

Give it another chance. Its the best. Use chalk.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely start switching it up.

Pullinbig: I assume hook grip means both palms facing out right?

Supinated is a curl grip, pronated is like an upright row grip (opposite of a curl grip, der).

hook grip is what olympic lifters use. your thumb is between the bar and your fingers. it locks your fingers around the bar so it is hard to drop. like i said its painful to start with but eventually you get used to it.

do a google search on the web and you'll find some pics with descripion.

Oooooooh, I've tried that but when my hands are sweaty (no chalk) its a beach. Its natures strap though if you have dry hands.

hook grip hurts like a mofo for the first like 2 weeks... ive opted to use standard one hand over, one under. i work on my grip enough doing static holds, that i can pull big (hahahaha) without straps :)
