Hi everybody, I've been stalking this site for about a month. Thanks for all the informitive posts. I'm 6ft even and 240lbs. I've got a BMI of 32.5. I feel that I'm about40 - 50 lbs overweight. I have a very physical job, but have not exerciesed on a regular basis in about 10 years. I am purchasing a treadmill this weekend and would like to start weight training and a diet as of next week. At 34 I'm concerned that it will be hard changing my eating habits, for example regular soda. Is there anywhere I could find a beginers diet and traing program, or should I just get myself a real physical trainer?
Thanks in advance.
Very nice board.

Forget the trainers, they are good but you can do it yourself. There are a lot of diffrent routines posted here. I would suggest for a newbie wanting to cut that you go with more of a light lifting with cardio routine. Say lift three, cardio three, and a rest/cheat on diet day per week. Look into the bodyforlife challenge. It is a good program to get a base from. Go to the EAS website and they will send you all the info/tips and routines you should need (Just don't take the supplement advertisments to seriously).

Almost forgot...This is a good base after the program switch to a more intensive program or you will plateau. It is just a good way to get used to lifting, get the form down, etc.
