do a lot of you guys like hack squats for reps?

I was reading dc's training and realized that he stated if your legs are laggin in the routine yuo can add one set of 6 on hack squats then rest then follow it by a brutal set of 20 .

I have never done hack squats i have never even done front squats the only squats i have done are pause and reg squats (which work great!)

Do alot of you guys see good results with hack squats for reps?
 
DC's program he recommends to some people with lagging legs to do 1 set of 6-8. Take a good rest, lower the weight, and blast out a set of 20.

But the 12th rep you should feel like you are going to die, but if you have guts you will find a way to get that 20th rep.


If you quads are not lagging then a set of 8 followed by a set of 4 is fine
 
I used to do hacks for 2 sets of 20 that i rarely got followed by 2 sets of squats followed by two sets of sldls. Hacks were a better quad builder than squats for me.
 
wow, that is alot of leg work, i prob would be lucky to make it through the last sets of sldl.

Yeah my gym right now i am at, has a hack machine and never really seen one at other gyms

Make sure you keep your feet high on the platform, or else it will put a lot of stress on your knees.

Play around abit with foot postioning, I really like to keep my feet together. It really blasts the lateral side of your quads.

- Find on foot position that works best for YOU.

yeah funny thing is not that many guys squat at my gym, i mean the older guys obviously do cause they are smart, but the guys my age do quarter free weight squats which does nothing but embarrass them.
 
There is one guy at my gym that I like to compare myself to. We have pretty similar physiques.

One day we were both doing legs (he always works out in pants, so I don't know how well his legs are). Well he has 3 45's on each side and not even going to parallel. I watched for a couple mins as I wanted him to think I was impressed.

I throw 4 45's on each side and bust out a solid 10 reps ass to the ground.

I'm not a big lifter at all, but I just had to laugh to myself.

Give those hacks a try, but keep an eye on your knees. If your knees start to hurt, make sure your feet are high enough on the platform.
 
will give em a try, but for now i am on a basic pullinbig routine and my lifts on reg squats are moving up so once i hit a wall, i may throw in hacks as a replacement.
