Do genetics matter in bodybuilding?

Yes, it does matter. Some people bulk faster than others, some people lose weight faster than others, some people are smarter than others, some faster, some taller, some have darker skin, etc. Genetics either controls things about you or gives you the predisposition towards something. Since this is out of your control, put it out of your mind and concentrate on being the best YOU can be.

I like to think of it like this . If you have normal functioning natural testosterone levels , and you are pushing yourself to your limit ... everyone is equal . you put in the work , the work will pay off . I don't agree with "hes big because he has good genetics" . its because he worked hard . and anyone can achieve it too if you try . Yes everyones body is different and responds in different ways if that's what u mean by genetics . But I believe anyone who has it in them can be a body builder

incorrect... genetics are VERY important...

just putting in the work doesn't guarantee you a spot on the Olympia stage, not even close

I do agree with that , but im aiming my response more in the direction that if one has a normal test level that he is still in an equal positon to build muscle (building the body)

I think genetically speaking Indian people got the short end of the stick. The Dot kind, not feather kind...

Genetics matter if u are planning to go pro..

If u are an average joe , just wanting to look better than otters , then training hard and keeping ur diet on spot could give u an upper hand when compared to others..

IMO , most of the times , I repeat , most of the times, a guy with bad genetics training hard, is looking much better than a guy with good genetics eating shit , watching tv all day long.

Yes it sure does, if your past generations sat around the porch and drank moonshine and watched Oprah all day on tv and ate nothing but fast food and all the best and finest processed foods 7-11 has to offer, then your body type and DNA would be affected. You are what you eat and do to get your body working properly. You basically will not be able to achieve your ultimate potential.

Good call. A lot of people look past the importance of mental genetics as well in this game. A lot of people have the physical genetics but dont have the drive, the will, the hunger to get anywhere close to what they could acheive.

Hell no bro, I have buddies that had labs done, "wanting" to add TRT to their regimen, only problem is one of my buddies test came back at 800ish NATTY.... He lives in the gym, has a good (sure not great diet) and he's only average for a stroll down the beach, there isn't enough drugs to put him on a stage, WHY???? Because genetics, looks just like his brother and dad.
