My muscles don't have any idea how much weight it lifts. It just know contraction, effort, and stimulation. Your a tool if you think heavy weights are paramount to big muscles.

Strength training and hypertrophy training usually follow different paths....to an extent.

Nope, because I do go to full contraction WITH heavy weight. They just tend to scamper off in the other direction.

The problem with watching youtube videos is that often people see an exercise being done a certain way and don't know why it's being done that way. There are also the e-celebs that think they're amazing, like Bostin - but are doing shit wrong.

But I'm honestly too busy in the gym worrying about what I'm doing, or eye fucking that little piece of ass in the neon yellow booty shorts to notice. :wiggle:

I lift correctly in all movements or don t do them...heavy is relative..I m 210 do 225 on incline x 5-10 depending on pain.

And I wear ear phone s to either politely ignore lil dicks, ease drop on the chick HW s eye fucking or to motivate myself. I have not had anyone tell me about improving my form since u were a dinner date...lo,l

I am not going to lie, I am one of those people but I only tell that to my friends. I am not one of those "gym experts" where I go up to strangers and show them the correct form(like I see a lot of dudes doing....smh dweebs).

Anyways, when it comes to my friends I usually say something. I have a lot of friends that try to put up way more weight than they can do. They do each one in a shitty form I like to call partials. So the other day my friend tried to incline DB press the 120's and he was only going 1/4th of the way down and counting each time as a 1 rep. I told him to drop that down to 100lbs so he can have a full range of motion. Everything I ever read says that form is everything.



But I see meatheads doing partials all the time. They are so fucking annoying. Screaming like they are in the movie hostel getting body parts cut off as they do each set with their partner(who is also a meathead) who is also screaming: CMON GET IT GET IT GET IT as they do 5 plates on squat but only going down a few inches. But like I said I do not say anything and try to drown out their screams by putting my headphones on full blast. I honestly don't give a shit about strangers in the gym and if they do the right form or the form that will give them bone damage in the near future.

Funny I'm usually the biggest guy in most gyms. When I tell the little guys to drop weight so they can complete the full range of motion completely they look at me funny and I show them the proper form slowly and controlled and then flex and they are like O ok...I lift heavy and light but always complete the full range of motion. I'm 6'1 if I cheated exercises my muscles would be short and I'd look like shit.

heavy but honorable reps are key. though i do find it funny how its usually the smallest guys going for the HEAVIEST, most sketch, lifts. super dangerous. super entertaining some times. i lift as heavy as i can without sending my a** to snap city!! lol

I pick my battles both in my surroundings and in my mind. ONLY if some guy doing doing 3-4 inch leg presses w 22 plates on the sled causes me to have to lug plates from another zip code do I let anything get me bent.

My pet peaves ( and I ve mellowed here as well) is if some person sit s on or at a station I need texting or staring helplessly of into space and not allowing me to work in do I have to bite my tongue and not say--

I gotta add this, heavy for one is light for another. When I looked like a good BB in my day I couldn't lift what a lot of guys would lift. Heavy for my genetics was heavy for my muscle, failure for me was the same failure to the guy lifting 100lbs or more than me. I kept my form and grew. When they looked and I was getting ready for my heavy set they snickered until after I got up and they saw my physique ,they never said shit other than scratch their head and give me a nod saying ya look great dude.

Each BB has to lift for himself the weight that pushes him to failure

I try to lift with light weight and use the best form possible then maybe once every two weeks I will lift very heavy. I think lifting heavy gives the best results but I always end up having to go to a chiropractor if I lift to heavy for to long.
 
I love ronnie coleman but look at what years of extremely heavy lifting has done to him. So I try to keep longevity in mind and not go to heavy to often.

So yeah, what's this thread about? Someone telling you to drop the weight, OP? Maybe they're trying to help and see that you're about to fuck yourself up.
I'm not that much of a heavy lifter unless it's back day which is my strongest body part. I focus on form. Back in the day I used to throw weight around trying to imitate Coleman and these Olympians. I decided to try something different and just focus on the range of motion and form with weight I CAN HANDLE PROPERLY. The difference in the way I grew was unreal. I grow faster on moderate weight and proper form than throwing weight around. I'm not an Olympian, so why the fuck am I gonna imitate someone of that genetic level ? Sure you can learn from them because they got there SOMEHOW, but don't you think that the weight they lift using that kind of form is equivalent to the weight we lift that compliments our strength and body ? Do what works for you.
Funny how my chest is bigger and more developed than a guy that throws up a sloppy 315 on the bench and I'm over here doing 245 nice and steady.
