Do you believe in fate ??????

Ok, So I was reminiscing today remembering and talking about my youth, and I thought to my self... Do I believe in fate ???

My father smoked cigarettes all his life, day & night, he stopped (or we thought he did) and he would still smoke them in the bathroom,

One day he had a car accident, broke his ribcage & punctured his right lung, went through some testing and discovered he had lung cancer in his right lung,

Because of the accident, he discovered he had lung cancer on that same lung that got punctured.

He died 6 months later after that.

Then my mom was always as healthy as a horse, and fell one day in her driveway, I took her to the Hospital & after several tests, she was diognosed with breast cancer (stage 1) in the same breast were she hit her self and had a hematoma...

She's fine, thank god, cancer free, But to this day I ask my self.............

Whas this FATE ??? or not ?????

To me, things like fate and karma are our way of trying to explain/justify events or outcomes. It's us trying to make sense of things that sometimes can't be made sense of. But, it makes us feel better if we think we understand it. I'm very sorry about the loss of your father to cancer. My grandfather died of liver cancer.

I hear u mlc31, it's hard to watch your loved ones go this way, my dad was not perfect, & I accept that, he was a great man, but made his choices, so I understand he could have chosen to live his life a different way..

I Don't judge him, now I'm a parent & I undersand to not judge, but to understand why..

I belive you make your own destiny, but within that, there's a side of me that feels like if maybe the're something else out there like fate, that's dictating our destinity..........

I don't believe in karma or fate, though I could come up with a bunch of stories like yours that are strange like that. A lot of it is relative to the advancement of society. Cavemen used to think if after drawing pictures of cows on a wall they appeared outside ready to be eaten that the cow god was listening. Same thing goes for today...lol

Fate is a funny thing.

I believe not everyone has it, some do. Like a gift of genetics when it comes to bodybuilding, I believe some of us are destined to perform certain duties. Some even perish, for the act of death itself sometimes can alter the people around said person. Such as a soldiers sacrifice, or a love ones passing when your lost in bad habits waking you up and showing you reality.

My grandmother passed away only 2 months ago due to cancer...her 5th fight with a 4th kind of cancer. Thats right she had multiple cancers, beating them each time over 6 years.

This next part includes faith and God. Pass over it or deal with it.

When she was originally diagnosed...she was only given about a year and a half with treatment. She is a very religious woman, a prayer warrior. Pentecostal Christian woman. My sister is a Catholic...a couple months after treatment started, my grandmother was at her church praying, my sister was at her church praying and lighting candles(the catholic way for requests). At the exact same time, across the state 2 things happened. One the people at my grandmothers church gasped as they said they seen an angel on each side of her standing. She described feeling a warm breeze and peace on her.

At that same time the Catholics at mass at my sisters church gasped, and seen the same thing. My sister described the same feeling. They did not know until the next day, it had happened to both of them. 2 weeks later when my grandma went in for tests...the cancer was gone.

Every time Cancer reared its head, she attacked it with faith and defeated it.

Finally this last time she said she is tired, she WANTS to go home. It was leukemia, and the treatment itself would have made her life a living hell. She refused treatment and hopsice took her to her house...3 weeks later, she died of a heart attack that went undetected for about 24 hours...

My brother had flow in(he is a marine stationed on west coast) to see her as emergency leave... He seen her Monday for the last time, left Tuesday to go back...Before he even landed back home she had passed in the hospital...Went from awake, talking, laughing, to gone in 24 hours. I was there when she passed, I felt "Her" leave, felt the warmth that emanated from her presence vanish from the room.

Fate is real, but I believe it can be wielded. Altered, it is more of a presence we bear about yourself. I believe we are given the option to accept something, or change something.

Or, are all those things, those words themselves, even the desire to change something predestined?

When we talk fate, we talk something we cannot understand completely as mortals.

All I know, is sometimes I have drawings on me deep in my soul, being pushed or pulled i certain directions. I have, altered the course of peoples lives permanently by listening to this...

Fate, as it would have it, it seems is destined to remain uncomprehended by us, and that just seems to be our fate as humans... lol

I agree, fate is uncomprehended by us, some swear by it, & others don't believe in it.

Amazing story about your grandmother, When you have faith like she had, you could move mountains...

No, i do not believe in fate.... fate vs free will is pretty much religious vs nonreligious. if you believe in fate then you also believe in god.... intelligent design predetermining your "fate". I do not believe in god in the traditional sense and in no way do i find "god" to be intelligent at all. Also from what i can understand regarding quantum physics and quantum mechanics, totally makes fate unbelievable.

On a mathematical level your wrong... In all technicality physics itself ensures the existence of fate. Given a set of numbers, something has a given fate. Then again the Chaos Theory would always keep things from being perfectly known by humans do to us being, humans and anything we make being of human design therefore leaving possible errors in existence.

In that sense Some humans(Those who seem always predictable) are subject to a small control of fate based on predictive possibilities... Such as a thug teen living in a bad neighborhood running drugs, is gona get shot. Fate could be looked at as the mathematical probability dealing with human actions.

Sorry, you got me thinking lol.

thats just statistics..... i mean the odds of that happening to the thug are pretty high but thats not his fate. fate to me would be that he was going to get shot and die on a certain date and there is nothing he can do to change that fate. he could make all different choices and in every scenario he would still be shot and die on that day cause its his fate. his fate was to get shot and die and there was nothing he could do change it.

one thing that throws me off is deja vu, I get it every so often and just can't figure out how I dream something, then it happens later?

I know, I totally get Deja vu's all the time, something mystical about it for sure..

I've read that some psychoanalysts attribute deja vu's to simple fantasy or wish fulfillment.
while some psychiatrists say it's a mismatching in the brain that causes the brain to mistake the present for the past.

Who knows, I don't totally believe in fate, I think you can change your destinity & make your own choices, but there's a part of me that does believe some things are meant to be.

I agree, even if fate does exist, you can totally change your future/fate by the choices u make...

Fate by definition is something that is predestined, not up to be chosen. But I do believe our fate is in our hands.

With Deja Vu....I have had times where I knew everything they were going to say for the next 60 seconds, and even cut people off before and told them everything and blew their mind off its hinges!

Its not a misfiring in the brain, I think its our minds tapping into something when we are asleep, tapping into the strands of time and space. But there in lies something else...

If your brain can pick up that stuff...8 months ahead of time, then you had the "fate" to experience it, you were destined to or else it would not have happened. BUT such as when I interjected, I altered the rest of what was to be and freaked people out in the process lol.

A psychic anomaly is also another subject I find intriguing.

Such as when a car accident happens, and the entire car is crumbled up into 1/4th of the size it was and crushed, yet the man driving it is perfectly uninjured because it bent all around him but never into him.

Fate? Destiny? God? Luck? Pick your poison.

I do believe in fate and karma. I have no reason not to believe in the two. Plus I think that if you do believe in karma it helps you to be a better person. I know that it is in the back of my mind and probably is an influence sometimes.

I think I like to believe in Karma, I always tell myself, well if I do wrong sooner or later I will pay for it...
I think Karma might just be our own conscious,
Karma is a force produced by our own consciousness, it acts as a policeman to insure that we learn the lessons of existence and don't forget too easly our mistakes.

But it's not a bad thing to belive in it, I've always try to do good things believing that in return, good things will happen for me.

But even if you are morally perfect, you will still age, get sick and die, so I guess Karma like Fate is a personal choice u make.

If you treat people right and fair, people will treat you back the same. When you do horrible things, people will make sure horrible things happen to you. So Karma is your own conscious.. IMO.

Coincidence.

Hindsight is 20/20. Depends how the individual interprets the facts and occurrences. Some people tend to over-think things and make connections that don't really exist.

Fate to me is an unavoidable destiny. Fate leads you somewhere you have no conscious intention of going, but you realize your place once you get there.
