Doctor pulled the plug after 8 weeks

Hello, my general practitioner ran some blood work two months ago because I had been feeling very fatigued and had not been sleeping well. My testosterone levels came back at 186 with the normal range being 240-950. Not very good for a 34 year old. She prescribed me Test Cyp at 200 mg/week. I started feeling much better around the 6th week. I had some more blood work done at this point and my test came back at 6.45ng/ml. (Different lab) with normal range being 1.75-7.81. She says I’m in the 600’s which is good for my age. Well 8 weeks have passed and she’s refusing to give me more refills on the basis that my levels are optimal and can possibly remain that way without trt. She will request blood work in another month to see if my test has dropped again at which point she will give me a refill and refer me to an endo. 8 week trt?! Has anyone heard of this approach?? Sorry for the long rant I’m just worried this doctor is toying with my hormones.

Omg. She obviously doesn't understand your natural testoserone is shut off now. Bro . . . . I feel bad for you. TRT is for life.

did she give you any hcg? how did you avoid shutdown? any more sides? no pct? she obviously knows very little about trt sadly, id get with a real trt doc and see how you can sort this out and get the boys working again and make sure to do it right, like main man said above ^^^^^^ trt is for life....

OP Welcome to the board. :wavey:

Listen we would like you to update us as your situation goes along. O'logy is here to help people having problems as you. Much experience and book knowledge found on this board. However we all learn more as guys like yourself let us in on your situation and what all an GP /MD is or not doing.

There are many members on O'logy the are involved in TRT and will maybe chime in and ask Q's to give you some input.

So please come back and up update us along this journey of yours.

Good Luck
OMM :)

No HCG No pct. I should have known better when I asked her if estrogen could be an issue while taking the test and she said no. My libido was shot before the pct and that got much better. Still feel tired and still sleeping shitty as I was before. Unfortunately I can’t schedule an appointment with an endo until January due to insurance changes. I’ll definitely look into starting a pct.

My old doc did the same thing. I knew TRT was for life so I entertained him. I went the month without TRT and came back. He gave me the script for the lab. I waited another couple of weeks and went to the lab. I came back for the follow up and he was shocked that I came back 100 points lower than when I first started!!

I then looked at him and said, "now are you going to put me back on testosterone and keep me there?" He gave me another refill and i asked to go to another doc and have been on TRT since. I've been on for 4 years.

Play her game. Let her boot you off. When you come back with an even lower number, she'll see

lol
What is she doing there with you???
You are perfect in the range with the TRT ans so you need it so in the future.
Without your levels will drop down lower then before. o_O
You should go to another doctor... she don't know what she does.

It's absolutely not good for your health if your levels going down now again!

Your question has been answered. Find a new competent doctor. There are a lot of good doctors out there who can help you. One of the specialist from here on this board can help you if you can not find a GP to help you in your area.

If you are off TRT and going to crash, I would get labs redone and see where your normal levels are at. This will just confirm if you are hypogonadal and need to be on TRT for life. Consider doing PCT and trying to see where your normal levels are at if you are not going to stay on TRT for the time being.

I just saw a urologist this morning. He doesn’t want me to continue the testosterone just yet. He ordered more labs and wants to check my pituitary to make sure nothing is going on there. He said he would most likely prescribe Clomid or HCG to preserve my fertility. ***128527;

bang on, please keep us posted. hope he knows more about trt than your gp.

Hey guys I was in the process of changing insurance companies so I finally had blood work done as per the urologist. Five weeks after stopping TRT and my test came back at 98! I was at 180 before the trt. I guess we all knew it would happen. Going back to the urologist to see what’s next. Keep you posted.

sounds like you are going through the same run around i had.. primary doc gave my 100mg per month and would not increase it even when i was tested under 200. dropped off it and got a new Doc, h wanted a sleep study.. months went by with nothing. i was busy and lost track.. called and they said they would refer me to a endo and he wanted a sleep study and new blood work. He looked at the blood work the day of the sleep study and then prescribed me 100mg every two weeks and blood work in 12 weeks.
gave my self my first shot yesterday.

Which is a terrible schedule and will make things worse.

We hate to say it but we told you last spring this would happen.

yeah I know but I am trying to do this through insurance and not cost me ****no price discussion allowed**00 bucks a year. It seems it is either a high cost option or go through ensure and deal with all the BS that goes with it.
