Im just trying to see if anyone has any advise on if it matters what time of day you lift and the gains you see??

I have been going to the gym at around 9:30-10am this is after about an hour after my first meal of the day. I usually get up around 6:30am and eat at 8-8:30am... I work one body part per day and im usually there for about 1-2 hrs if i do cardio...

So far ive had good gains but im still getting my life back and really getting back into lifting so i think anything i do will give me gains now, something is better than nothing that i used to do........ Im just wondering if i should be lifting later in the day, which would be hard for me but maybe i can make that work... I work in the afternoon to mid evening so i wouldnt hit it till about 7-8pm ish.....

I work second shift so cardio at noon to get me going for the day then work, then lifting a little after midnight when I get off work.

it depeand on your life style man, TIME dont really matter, how you feel will and what you need to do.
for me i lift at lunch time or around dinner. if i had to work alot and travle each day, then I would do it in the morning, becuase I know at the end of the day, I wont want to.

I get up and head to the gym early in the morning normally there around 6-6:30 am. I have worked out early morning, late afternoon and evening...

i have had better feeling, more focused and intensity in the gym early in the morning so that is the routine i have stuck too, i feel stronger and more ready to hit the weights

just my 2 cents

Cardio just uses up energy that could be building more muscle.

40 minutes of going to failure on every set with 60-90 second rest periods . . . that's BB training.

I ve been hitting in the am around 9:30-10AM for about the last 2months. I like it cause the gym i go to is sort of empty.. I know around 3-6ish pm it is SLAMMED and between the retards doing jumping bullshit in the tiny free weight area really CRAMS it up and you just cant do what you wanna do.....

The reason i ask is simply cause i read that working out in the AM opposed to PM is that you dont gain as much.. Some study was done and they said that the people that trained in the PM had More significant gains the the people that trained the same schedule in the AM....

Honestly i think its bullshit but i thought id ask to see if anyone had an idea...
Im gonna try to go around 8pm ish for the rest of this week and see if i can focus and get done what i wanna do cause honestly around that time when im done working all i wanna do is CHILLOUT! So this will be hard to get going but i was told the Gym is DEAD from about 8-11........
I dont know, we'll see what happens... When i was working construction i always lifted at about 4pm and i loved it cause when i was done i had nothing to do after. Not like now, i hit it hard in the morning and then start working and its hard to move after a GOOD leg workout!! im sure you guys can relate....

Anyways thanks for the help and advise thus far!

i will not go to the gym unless i have at least 2500 calories in me allready for the day...ATLEAST, if i dont and go early as you say my workouts are shit, i lift less weight and don't have as much energy to get through the workout....

so bottom line if its size and strength youre looking for, later in the day is better after you've consumed a decent amount of calories...

I generally have my lunch at 11:30am ram it down and go to the gym during the 'real lunch time' - during company time :) It just feels better to know I am getting paid while I am in the gym

Personally i no that i always perform better in the gym if i get 2-3 meals in b4 my workout AND have atleast 1.5-2 hours beetween my last meal and my workout .

I think that there is no difference when you make your work-out. Some people prefer to do the liftings in the morning, some do it in the evening, but both groups can see their success. It really depends on your personal preference! eg. I can go to the gym in the evening because I have to go to work very early.

i did read that your testosterone levels are the highest before 9:00 am. so that would be the best time to workout. i read it from a believeable source too.

I enjoy training early in the day (if possible) because it allows me to get in a bunch of meals before i sleep. I noticed that when i trained at night i would literally wake up in the middle of the night STARVING (even when having a gigantic shake whole milk and all) I think for me training after a meal in the morning is most efficient but hey that's me. I'd train anytime a schedule would allow me to :)

Two ways to look at it- It's recommended to eat most of your protein after your workout some say. However, any benefits have to be almost minuscule when you think of how many other factors are involved. I love to workout at lunch because it really breaks up the stress of my day and don't have the feeling like "Damn, I need to get off this shitty job and then do deadlifts???"
