and so on... I've been busy at work this week (things should slow down now), so I haven't been religious with 6 meals a day due to time constraints. As long as I'm somewhere north of 300g protein for the day, and 5k or better calories, I dont complain. I am about to head to a fast food joint for 1900 calories right now in fact, I woke up late so I have a meal to make up for.
I am adjusting to the food intake to the point where I could just about drop out milk and other dirty foods, and eat clean. But for the moment drinking water/rice/chicken/oatmeal all day long would be pretty tough and leave me very full due to the volume of rice/oatmeal for the carbs they give. The problems with those two foods is they are full of water when cooked.
So I like to eat things calorically dense, if its fatty to some degree I dont care, EFAs would be better (olive oil, flax, fish oils) but I am just trying to hold ~250 pounds and then I will work from there. I will probably go for another 500 calories or so on top of where I am now, in about a month or so.
I like to start by adding 1k on top of maintenance when going back for a bulker. So essentially I look at protein, and nothing but raw calories. I dont care about being 8% bodyfat year round because it would not be easy for me, I'd have to cut down drastically first. Plus for as "much" as I do know about diet, there is still yet more to learn, about diet and my own body, it really is a science beyond all this other simplistic stuff like going to the gym and sticking a pin in your shoulder.
One way to make clean bulking much easier, go to 8 meals.
