Donating blood - other organizations besides red cross?

Not sure if this subject has been touched on before or not.

So I donate every 8 weeks or every 3 months depending on whole blood or double blood. Every time I go back my hematocrit is high again. (I blast and cruise). I think I would benefit from more frequent donations especially since I cruise on 250mg test and 250mg deca. And also if adding tren or EQ into the mix.

I've heard of people going through multiple organizations other than Red Cross so they can donate more frequently....I haven't been able to find any, or at least any within 100 miles of me. Can anyone help me out with this? Maybe list off some names I can look up, or share their strategy with me?

Thank you

check out blood heros to see if they have a lab by you
Thanks 3J! Unfortunately nothing within a 50 mile radius of me.
and look into platelet donations.. you can do that every other week
I have actually considered that. The fact that it takes a couple hours is a bit off putting....but is it effective at lowering hematocrit?

You might want to look into the platelet donations. I think some guys tend to get pretty low on iron doing whole blood all the time. If I understand correctly you can have low iron and high HCT.

Here is one thread. I remember seeing more on this over in the TRT subforum though. http://www.steroidology.com/forum/testosterone-replacement-therapy/656197-donating-blood-when-trt-2.html

The theory is that a bunch of the red blood cells are destroyed by the process. Lowering HCT, but you get to keep the iron.

I'll definitely read up on it. Maybe I'll give it a shot and see how it treats me....I'm kind of a wimp with donating. Even double blood takes a bit longer than I like.

Hopefully that beefed up sponge will show up and give his .02 as well.

My wife and I do it at the hospital she works for. We will hit up Red Cross and then a few weeks later her work so it's double in the allotted 52 days. Not much but it helps and they are always wanting blood

I got deferred from the "blood bus" I am kind of worried about what I am going to do... I have been donating plasma for a lil cash every other week or so when I can get in there. My hematocrit has been around 48 for almost 2 months.

I am not sure what I am going to do if hematocrit gets out of range... I will figure out how to do self-phlebotomy if I have to but I dont want to.

Like 3J said, I definitely swear by platelet apheresis being totally win/win over whole blood for B&C and TRT guys. I drop around 3% give or take every donation, and as I make so many platelets - I finish in about an hour. Your ferritin remains intact, you get free swag, the veteran phlebotomists are usually assigned there, you get to watch a movie (I know at least in my area you do) while hooked up, and they bring you snacks/drinks.

Hands down the way to go in my book. :)

What were you deferred for? The only permanent ones are certain diseases/drug use/sexual history or blood defects. Everything else is usually 4 weeks maximum; unless you're a homosexual male - they have to abstain for something like 6 months or a year from sex before they can. So that's probably a permanent deferral for the vast majority of gay men.

My last blood work with the doc showed low iron as others have indicated. Now I add iron to my regiment and self phlebotomy, blood letting tonight infact

The local blood bank will not let me do platelet donations - they said O+ blood is in such high demand they cannot afford to let me not donate whole blood.

Have you had any issues with infiltration during platelet donation? I tried to do a platelet donation a while back and the needle infiltrated the vein about 40 minutes in so they tried the other arm and the same thing happened. Which hurt like shit and left me with some bruises on my arms for about 2 weeks. Id like to do platelet donations regularly but that first experience was pretty off putting
