Also I used a 21 for part of my first cycle. It sucks but if its all you can get for some reason its usable... and it wont take you long to decide to use something decent.
Why would it make a difference to draw with 18g? Because it draws faster? Don't pull back so hard and it won't aspirate in the syringe. Nice and slow. 18g will tear up the rubber stopper too quickly, been there done that. 22g is fine to draw with, 27g was no pain to inject with. Although pushing with 27g will take a little bit of time to do, with the needle size, its worth it to me.
Using a 18 gauge is to big imo over time u can stretch n even tair the rubber stopper n then no mote magic juice , sometimes u learn the hard way like me...
