dumbell vs. barbell

can some one elaborate me on what the difference between benching with db's vs. bb's is? I hadn't benched with a bar in 2 weeks, used only dumbells(before was reps with 225 for 10) and then i used a barbell the other day and reps of 245 for 10...I'm talking it was a significant increase, i felt like a freak on a leash not to say that is super strong, cause im not, but man it impressed myself, so obviously they do a lot of good, or are working somethign i was lacking...thanks guys

if you doing them right you can get a lower with dbells than a bar..also ever see some bench and the bar moves up but it is uneven they have a dominant side?? with the dbells it will help strengthen that weak side since it has to move the weight or you drop it..

I feel that dumbells hit my triceps very heavily, I dont really use them unless I'm bored. Im a barbell guy for virtually everything, I do like dumbells for bicep and delt work.

I really like dumbells for bench press, I can get a deeper stretch and my pumps are incredible, also I do not feel as much stress on my elbows as I do with barbell bench presses. Get a spotter if you are going heavy, most gyms frown on people who slam their weights to the floor.

the weightroom i go to is 100% crap. i could break the mirrors and no one would know, but hey, it gets the job done.

what about splitting it up, say liek a chest super set...a barbell set of say 245-10 and then 80's -10 back to back, hmmm, any good?
