ESTRO VERY HIGH Expert advice needed !!

Posts:1Rep Power:0Hello I am 54 180 lbs 5' 8 '' lift 4 days a week. Been on and off TRT for 6 years.Been off for 6 months and feeling lousy. No energy, sex drive, strenth in the GYM is really bad. So i went to a new doc. (PRIMARY) to start to get back on TRTbecause i finally got insurance. Sent me for blood work and t was not bad for some reason. Its normally below 300 when i test after being off for a bit.Total was 514 and free was 86.9, I like to be in the 800 range. The bad part was a few thing out of range. Estrogen @ 316(HELP) being my main concerns He didnt do a estodiol test that i thought he was going to do, just estrogen.This probally explains alot of my symptoms lol ALSO my hematocrit was a bit high @50.3 but hemoglobin was ok. Cholesterol Total 265, 188 ldl 213 non hdl. Despite all this the doc gave me a script for Test Cyp @ 100 mg per week but was uneducated about A dex and HCG and wasnt in the mood for me to learn him lol. So i took what i could and ran !!!!. Questions: do i need to get a estrodiol test ? And wont the test cyp drive my estro even higher if dont treat it ? Should i get some hcg and a dex on my own ? or should a see a Urol or Endo. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated !!!

My understanding is that estrogen is what they measure in woman and estrodiol is what they measure in men. You need to have your doctor run a new test, ask him to do a estrodiol sensitive test.
 
Ha Ha Ha WTH is my doc a totol moron for giving me a estrogen test instead of a estrodiol test ? Anyone know the answer to this?
 
My doc just calls Estradiol "Estrogen" which caused me a lot of confusion at first. He clearly knows the difference, but I think he assumed I didn't. Do you think yours could be doing the same thing? That sounds really high to me but I'm pretty new at this.
 
I would lower that HB by donating blood and then retest ferritin a month later.
You might not be able to sustain 800's T level if you are trying to keep HB down.
 
Thanks for the advice Apollon. I plan on giving blood.But my main concern is this high estrogen level.Normal range is 130 or less Mine is at 316. No panic attacks but my interior decorating skills seem to be better lol. Is estrogen and estradiol the same on the blood work or 2 differant things?? Thanks for your input
 
Estradiol (E2) is one of the three main types of estrogen (E1, E2, and E3) and is the one that regulates the menstral and estrous cycles in women. I do not remember the names of the other two since I do not care about them. :) When they do an estrogen panel in women, they check all three. In men, they only need to check the E2, so an estradiol panel is taken instead. If they did a full on estrogen panel in men the only one that will show up is E2, if I remember correctly, as the other two will be too low to be detected by the test.

So calling it estrogen is not wrong, it simply lacks precision. I would want my doctor to have precision, but he simply might be "dumbing it down" for you.


EDIT: You are close to thrice the max level, so you will have problems. You very well might start getting gyno - growing breasts...and not the succulent, lovely ones that can be found in the PSL & 3JS picture contest either...yucky, nasty looking ones. You need to get it under control.

That clears it up . Thanks You. The blood work says estrogen. So they tested me for estrogen but the doc should have stated estrodiol. It doesnt matter though because its the same reading in a man. GOT IT !!! That means im screwed !! It reads 316 pg/ml three times the norm.I dont have any gyno or nothing im just tired no energy and feel bloted and weak in the gym. Make sence? I cant believe the doc wouldnt give me A dex and didnt seem to think it was a big deal He said to take Zinc lol WTF I know better i just wanted to make sure. He gave me 100 mg per week test to get back on trt. I havnt had a shot in 4 months and my t levels At 500 how the hell can my estro be so high? Its not like Im coming off a cycle. Somethings going on.So should i wait and get the Estro down before starting T shots again or just get some A dex and start at the same time? Great Fourm and thanks for all the input.

They are not the same reading. Men have all forms of estrogen (E1, E2 and E3). Estradiol (E2) is the most potent form of estrogen and the form the testosterone aromatizes into. This is the reason why estradiol must be checked. You need to do blood work again. See my signature below for where to get cheap, fast blood work if you don't want to bother going through your doctor again. Whatever you do though, check estradiol.
 
Thanks i will get estrodiol checked asap. So are you saying my blood work that says Estrogen level at 316 pg/ml isnt as important as the estrodiol level and it doesnt mean my estrodiol levels out of wack ?

Your estradiol could still be high. But you need to check estradiol since that is the one that is aromatized from testosterone. You could have results in 24 hours if you get the panel in my signature at Privatemdlabs.
 
What lab do you go to? For TRT, use the basic LabCorp serum E2 test (estradiol sensitive 140244) or Quest Sensitive 4021x.

Thank Jim It was Quest, Heading there today for E2 sensitive. Problem is i need to explain to my doctor why i need Estrodiol test instead of Estrogen,and i really dont know what to tell him except that its the test Men get and the important estrgen that needs to be tested. All i know is i need to treat this and knock the level down before i start TRT. Its hard when the test cyp is sitting right in front of you and you feel so lousy , but i know better. The doc didnt think it was that big of a deal and told me to take Zink.You would think he would have givin me a dex in this situation with levels being so high
 
Zinc wont do much. BUT - you really can't tell what your estrogen is without sensitive testing done. The test you had has little value.
